Mark Grepke

Mark Allen Grepke, 63, of Eureka, Illinois (formerly of Fort Wayne, IN.) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He passed due to heart failure.

He was born in Hollywood, California, to Brenda (West) Rynearson (Canton, Illinois), and Harry Grepke (Sarasota, Florida), who preceded him in death.

Mark is survived by his sister, Debra (Chris) Syndram of Morton, Illinois, his nephew, Thomas Syndram of Peoria, Illinois; three nieces; Kristen Syndram of Holland, Michigan, Katherine (Drew) Bauman of Eureka, Illinois, and Elizabeth (Austin) Chapin of Morton, Illinois; three great nieces; Zailey, Arlene and Josephine; and three great nephews; Beckham, Brooks and Brigham.

Mark was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was proud to serve on active duty for six years as an aircraft mechanic on C5 cargo planes in Alta, Oklahoma. After his honorable discharge he returned to Sarasota, Florida where he became a flooring contractor, a career he flourished in until his retirement.

Mark enjoyed many hobbies and interests including motorcycles, automobiles, watercraft and anything mechanical. He was particularly fond of his red 1986 Pontiac Firebird and Chris-Craft Launch 28 boat. In addition, Mark was a very talented artist creating many original drawings and chalk sketches. Mark never stopped learning and being curious about things which made for some uniquely fun and interesting conversations.

Most of all, Mark was a caring and devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, with a big personality and a loving heart and soul.

Mark was excited to go to heaven to meet God and see his family members that had gone before him. Mark lived his life on earth to the fullest and was excited to enjoy his new life in heaven. We will miss Mark and will smile when we think about him, enjoying fond memories and knowing he is at home and at peace.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. After a private family memorial, plans are being made to his have a military burial in a National Veteran’s Cemetery in Indiana where most of his family and friends reside.
