Juanita Lacey

On October 1, 2024, Juanita Lacey passed away after a brief battle with cancer. She passed with her family at her bedside surrounded in love. She was born on January 28, 1940 to John and Vivian Hall. She married Dale Lacey on September 20, 1958 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2024. She was the mother of a son, Larry (Danille) Lacey and a daughter, Karen Lacey. She was the very proud grandmother of 3, Megan Lacey, Melissa Lacey, and Matthew (Miriam) Lacey, and her 2 fur babies, Fennigan and Tucker.

Juanita worked for the Havana school system as the head cook at New Central School. She held that role for 28 years. She watched a lot of kids grow up and even had the joy of seeing their children at New Central. She was happiest when she could be outdoors. She loved being able to have many flowers. She grew memory gardens in honor of loved ones who had already passed. She enjoyed traveling and camping. This past June, she was able to go to Florida and enjoy the ocean one last time. She truly loved holidays with her family. One of the things she enjoyed the most was the annual holiday display that she and her daughter put up at their home. It always brought a smile to her face when someone would let her know how much they enjoyed it and how it made Christmas special to them.
Above all, Juanita adored her family. She was there to cheer for them in every success in life and the first one to comfort them when life was challenging. She was the center of her family. She touched so many lives and will be forever remembered as a very kind and loving person.
Juanita is survived by her 2 children and 3 grandchildren; as well as 4 sisters, Rose Mary (Gilbert) Fletcher, Jane Schnoor, Charlene Nall, and Linda Johnston; sister-in-law, Helen Hardy; and brothers-in-law, Robert Lacey and Tim Lacey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at noon at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mike Hopps will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
