Daniel W. "Mad Dog" Springer

Daniel William Springer, 82, of London Mills, passed away unexpectedly at 10:30 PM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL. He was born on July 28, 1942 in St Joseph, MI to Lawrence and Verilla (Brown) Springer and was raised in Lakeside, MI.


He is survived by two daughters, Laura J. (Michael) Davis of Galien, MI and Jayne A. Newland of LaPorte, IN; five grandchildren, Stephen Pletcher, Cayla (Colton) Morrison, Kristyn (Levi) Rogers, Brae Davis and Breanna Springer; five great-grandchildren, Tessa Morrison, Maverick Morrison, Carter Pletcher, Caiden Pletcher, and Asin Rogers; one sister, Maureen (David) Lubke, two sister-in-laws, Jacquelyn (Ralph) Springer, and Debbie (Victor) Springer; two aunts, Verneita Kurina and Ruby (Brown) Reitz, close cousins; Bill (Fay) Russell, Vernon (Claudia) Brown, lots more cousins many nieces and nephews; as well as several special friends, Rich (Vicky) Kosowski, Chris (Katie Mottaz) Kosowski, Wyatt Kosowski, Jerred (Sheri) Kosowski, Lee Kosowski, and Luke Kosowski; Ray Slaton, Ray Rivers, Ed Rilea, his long time friend and connection to all the Michigan nostalgia, Doug Robinson, and a host of others!


He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny A. Springer; three brothers, Ralph, Victor, and Phillip Springer; one sister Darlene Suberlak, two brother-in-laws,Robert Suberlak and David Lubke, and his precious fur babies Hershey and Duke.


Daniel worked for Eagle Services for 50 plus years and during that time he moved to IL to work diligently in doing his part for the company. He enjoyed life to the fullest by fishing, hunting, golfing, being outdoors with his dogs, farming with Rich, camping, shooting guns, sports, being on the lake, cruising around in his 56’ Chevy Belaire to Spring Lake and Louie's Pad. Daniel never met a stranger and was welcome wherever he went. He graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1960 and played for the football team where he earned the name "Mad Dog Springer"! Afterward, he served in the United States Navy before starting his family. Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew him.


Memorial service and burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeside Michigan will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.
