Jessica M. Lasswell


Lewistown- Jessica M. Lasswell, 40, of rural Lewistown passed away Tuesday August 25, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born March 13, 1975 at Davenport, IA; the daughter of Donald E. Jr. and Kathy M. (Skiles) Stoddard. She married Brian Lasswell on October 23, 1993 at Smithfield. He survives. Also surviving are her mother and step father Kathy (Walter) Thomas of Cuba, mother-in-law, Brenda Lasswell of Cuba, three children, Jesse (Jordyn Longenecker) Lasswell, Devin James Lasswell, and Ashlynn Dawn Marie Lasswell all of Lewistown, two grandchildren Alyvia Lynn Marie Lasswell, and Wyatt Ronald Gene Lasswell also of Lewistown, six sisters, Amanda Joy (Troy) Chisum of Canton, Raychel May (Ted Abernathy) Thomas of Cuba, Cathi Jean (Kris Woolfolk) Stoddard of Moline, Jen (Jeff) Decock of Colona, Jami Stoddard of Rock Island, and Vicki (Adam) Myers of Cowansville, PA; three brothers, Donald Eugene Stoddard III of Lewistown, Ronnie Ray (Sue) Thomas of Pekin, and Robbie Ray Thomas of Forrest City, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, one infant daughter, Brianna Marie Lasswell, and her father-in-law, Ronald Gene Lasswell.

Jessica was a cook at Prairieview Care Center in Lewistown. Jessica was a very giving person always putting others first. She enjoyed taking care of everybody. Jessica loved to play Farmerville on face book and she also enjoyed listening to Brian play his guitar and enjoyed his band.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday September 1st at the Cuba Christian Church with Pastors Corby Skiles and Mike Arnett officiating. Burial will be at Cuba Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is in charge of arrangements. Shirley Barnes

Canton –Shirley Barnes, 84, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Sunset Manor in Canton.
She was born on February 23, 1931 in St. Louis, MO., to George and Eva Lee (Inman) Dean.
She married Harold Barnes on March 1, 1958 in Bushnell.  He survives.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Shirley Retired from the Treasurer’s office at the Fulton County Court House.  She also worked in the Accounting department for Dan Holthaus Construction.
There will be no services.  Cremation rites have been accorded   Burial of the ashes will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Andrew Vanderschoor


Canton- Andrew Vanderschoor, 98, of Canton, passed away at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Renaissance Care Center, Canton.
He was born June 28, 1917 in Mt. Greenwood, IL (Chicago) to Jacob M. and Alida (Beukinga) Vanderschoor.  He married Dorothea J. McGinnis on April 18, 1947.  She survives.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Haijo (Wyllo) Vanderschoor, Rudolph (Helen) Vanderschoor, and Jacob (Vera) Vanderschoor; sisters Albertha (John) Snyder, Alida (Walter) Haedrich, and Elizabeth (Raymond) Sprague.
Andy’s family moved to Canton when he was 12 years old.  He graduated from Canton High School in 1935.  Andy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and spent time in the South Pacific, where he was promoted to Sergeant.  He loved his country and the flag.
He was a White Sox and Chicago Bears fan, win or lose.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and traveling.
Andy worked as an assistant in the Fulton County Circuit Court and then accepted a position at International Harvester, where he retired from in 1981 with 40 years of service.  He also sold real estate until 1985.
He was a member of Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club, Canton Country Club, Elk’s Lodge, American Legion Post 16, and Shields Chapel United Methodist Church.
Services for Andy will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton, where visitation will be held one hour before the service.  Rev. Walter Carlson will officiate.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Canton.

Donna Bitner


Trivoli – Donna J. Bitner, 75, of Trivoli, passed away on August 27, 2015.
She was a born on January 8, 1940 in Canton to Loren “Buzz” and Minnie (Iseli) Ashwood.  They preceded her in death.
She married Kenneth McAdams on September 19, 1957 and later married Donald W. Bitner on July 14, 1979.
Surviving are her children Donita Maccanelli of Farmington, Craig McAdams of Lewistown, Theresa (Todd) Pahl of Trivoli and Susan Oltman of Farmington.  She got to share Don’s four kids, Donna (Willard) Behrends of East Peoria, David (Debi) Bitner of Peoria, Debra (Mike) Wood of Bartonville, Dalynn (Ross) Brown of Miami, FL, seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  She also leaves a very special sister in law Linda Gernert.
Also preceding her in death were her brother Larry Ashwood, son in law James Maccanelli, daughter in law, Susan McAdams, one great grandson and many aunts and uncles.
Donna graduated from VIT in 1957 and later worked at the Gateway Milling Company in Peoria from February 28, 1969 to March 2005, as the office manager.  She bowled from September 1971 to May of 2015 in Farmington, Canton and Peoria.  She belonged to the Tri County Senior Citizens Center in Farmington and served as treasurer since 2005.  She served as a Girl Scout Leader for 7 years for her girls, a member of the Red Hat Society, Farmington Moose and the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club.  She was a huge St Louis Cardinals fan.  Donna took great pride in her home and yard, spending many, many hours mowing and tending to her many flower beds.  She loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended Ashwood, Iseli and Bitner families.  She enjoyed playing cards and traveling.  
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2015, from 1-3, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with a funeral service on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 2 pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Brunswick Cemetery in rural Trivoli.
Memorials may be made to the Tri-County Senior Center in Farmington.

Dawn Lingenfelter


St. David – Dawn Lingenfelter, 73, of St. David, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
She was born on October 19, 1941 in Canton to Ralph and Hallie Westerfield Williams.  They preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter Debra Beaird of Canton, sisters Dixie (Bill) Hebb of Canton, Diane (Carl) Simons of Canton, grandchildren Lora Sepich, Benjamin Beaird and great grandchildren Randon Kruzan, Ella Sepich, Miranda Sepich and Samantha Sepich.
Also preceding her in death is one grandchild, Damon Sepich.
Dawn was a CNA at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba, retiring in 2003.  She was a member of the Canton Assembly of God Church and was an artist who enjoyed working with oil paints and drawing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Canton Assembly of God Church in Canton, with a visitation one hour prior at the Church.  Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Dawn was fond of animals and the family requests the memorials be made to the Humane Society of Fulton County or to her church.

Claude Wheatley


Canton – Claude H. Wheatley, 89, of Canton formerly of Pekin, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Sunset Manor in Canton.
He was born on May 5, 1926 in Missouri.
He married Betty Cantrell on December 17, 1946 in West Frankfort, IL.  She survives.
Also surviving are his children Gary Wheatley of Topeka, Nancy Wheatley of Pekin, grandchildren, Joshua (Terrence) Stokes-Wheatley, Karl (Jackie) Wheatley, Shena (Jerimiah Bolen) Meskimen and great grandchildren, Kylie, Jaiton, Jaxton, and Kora.
Claude worked for the railroad in southern Illinois for 11 years and later worked for Caterpillar for 33 years retiring in 1986.  He served in the US Navy during WWII and later as a special deputy for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a past member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion in Bloomington.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 4-6, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  There will be no funeral service.  Cremation rites have been accorded

Genevieve L. Belville


Lewistown- Genevieve L. Belville, 82, of Lewistown passed away at 2:49 PM Monday August 24, 2015 at Prairieview Care Center in Lewistown.

She was born April 28, 1933 in Prairie City, IL; the daughter of Gustav and Bertha (Brown) Schnarr. She married Lewis Belville on December 9, 1950 in Lewistown. He survives along with two daughters, Cynthia (Mike) Neuendorf of Table Grove, and Kathryn (Bill) Palmer of Knoxville, one son, Larry Belville of Lewistown, two sisters, Darlene Heffren of Ocala, FL; and Patricia (Bob) McCloskey of Burlington, IA; one brother Harold (Willa) Schnarr of Canton, two grandchildren, Amy Neuendorf of Ashland, WI; and Seth (Kim) Neuendorf of Delavan, two step grandchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Palmer of Washington, and Jenny (Steve) Watts of East Peoria, two great grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

Genevieve and her husband were active in new church missionary service for 50 years in Lewistown, Cuba, and Vermont. Her life touched many people as she loved the lord and faithfully served him. She was an avid NASCAR fan.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM Saturday August 29th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Jim Menne officiating. Everett E. Emken


Lewistown- Everett E. Emken, 92, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:35 AM Sunday August 23, 2015 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

He was born July 4, 1923 at rural Farmington, the son of Henry and Manilla (Chambers) Emken. He married Shirley J. Lawrence on March 25, 1956 at Mossville. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lawrence Emken, one infant daughter, three brothers, and one sister. Surviving is one son, Lee (Suzie) Emken of St. David, one daughter, Rayann Hardy of Lewistown, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one brother, Ralph Emken of Havana.

Everett retired from Caterpillar Mapleton plant. He was a WW 2 Army veteran, and a member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American legion Bishop Post 1.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Henry-lange Memorial home in Lewistown where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in oak Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded by his VFW and American Legion post. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Larry Utt Sr.


St. David – Larry Eugene Utt Sr., 73, of St. David died at 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 4, 1942, in Canton, the son of Elbert Walter “Shag” and Mildred Maxine (Myers) Utt.  He married Flora Sue Schrodt on December 31, 2005.  She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Larry (Beth) Utt Jr. of Canton, Bradley Utt of St. David, and Michelle (Dallas) Williams of Moreno Valley, CA; step-children, John (Tina) Fidler of Canton and Terry (Tammy) Filder of Morris; his siblings, Leona (Joe) Chapman of Dayton, TX, Doreen (Bill) Curtis of Huntington Beach, CA, Mary (Bob) Henness of Galesburg, Rosa (Larry) Collier of Cuba, and Mike (Cindy) Utt of London Mills;  eight grandchildren, Derby, Carlyn, Brayden, Trenton (Alex), Heather, Brenda, Danielle, and Tiffany; six step-grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Allison, Jordyn, Michael, and Joey; one great-granddaughter, Addison.  He was also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews that adored him.
Larry’s entire life included Dave, John, and Rick Utt, cousins by blood, but brothers by heart and love.  The true meaning of best friends forever was the relationship he shared with Russ Siders.
Larry worked for International Harvester.  He then followed his dreams and moved to California where he worked as a machinist for Northrup Aircraft building B2 Bombers.  He also worked for Johnston Sweeper and Alcoa Aluminum.  After retiring he once again followed his dreams and returned to his hometown of Canton, amongst many lifelong friends and family.  This is where he met his one true love, Flora Sue.
During Larry’s short life of 73 years he wore many hats: Son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, and the best friend anyone could ask for.  Larry was a kind and gentle soul with an undying love of people and the desire to help others, and for this he has earned his wings in Heaven.
Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Maryville Cemetery in Bryant.  Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian L. Gilpin


Brereton- Vivian L. Gilpin, 87, of Brereton passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 9:45 AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Graham Hospital, Canton.

She was born December 30, 1927 in Canton to Sidner and Ruby Catherine (Ford) Orwig.  She was raised by her step-father, Joshua “Dot” Orwig.

She married David Curtis Gilpin on November 1, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2006.

Also preceding her in death are her parents and three siblings, Vera Ellis, Verda White, and Harley Orwig.

Surviving are one son, David Lee Gilpin of Brereton; three granddaughters, Tracy (Greg) Kitchen of Canton, Stacy Vaughn of Dunfermline, and Rachel Gilpin of Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Curtis Gilpin of Missouri, Dalton and Walker Kitchen of Canton, and Morgan and Conner Vaughn of Dunfermline; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker.

Vivian loved her family with all her heart.  She was an awesome and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, until we meet again.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.

Lewistown- Patricia A. (Cato) Cyphers, 71, passed away at 5:00 AM, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.  She was born on February 19, 1944 in Table Grove, IL. to Dean Reedy and Beatrice (Fawcett) Howard.  Pat married Tom Stufflebeam in 1961 and later married Gary Lee Cyphers.  Gary survives along with 3 children; Rodney L. Stufflebeam of Bushnell, IL, Robyn Stufflebeam and Michael Stufflebeam both of Lewistown, IL, 1 brother Gene Howard, 4 sisters; Kathy J. Howard of Canton, Jamie D. Howard of Springfield, Billie Furgerson of Canton and Roxann Fernetti of Canton, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Roger “Ramjet” Howard and a sister Donna Herrin.

Larry G. Runkle


Larry G. Runkle, 73, of Peoria passed away at 12:46 pm, Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his residence.  He was born on May 18, 1942 in Avon to Harold D. and Mildred (Billeter) Runkle.  Larry married Geraldine Jackson on November 2, 1971 in Macomb.  She survives along with 2 sons; Michael Runkle of Bartonville, and Brad Runkle of Peoria, and 3 brothers; Everett Runkle and Roy Runkle both of Alabama, and Walter Runkle of California. He is survived by cousins, Richard McCann, Jerry Billeter, and Bernard St. Ledger; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry was a self employed contractor and a member of First Christian Church in Peoria.  He was a compassionate, caring, loving, giving, and hardworking man.  His life was one of giving.  He and his wife loved to travel and went on many mission trips and enjoyed helping those in need.  He loved the Lord and served him well.  Larry was a loving husband and devoted father.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Unity Point Hospice for their exceptional care.

Wrighta McComb

Fairview – Wrighta J. McComb, 93, of Fairview died at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
She was born December 22, 1921, in Joshua Township, to John Mills and Loretta Blanche (Wright) Lock.  She married Forrest E. McComb on May 9, 1947, at Providence Chapel Church.  He preceded her in death on July 13, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Caroll (Canise) McComb of Fairview and Laddie K. (Patti) McComb of Glasford; one brother, Donald M. (Doris) Lock of Farmington; three grandchildren, Crista (Randy) Hartstirn, Keri (Clay) Webb, and Matthew McComb; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert E. and Glen M. Lock.
Wrighta attended schools in Fulton County and graduated from Fairview Community High School in May of 1939.  She attended Peoria Institute of Business in Peoria for 2 years, and then worked in bookkeeping departments at Northern Steel & Stoker Co. and later at LeTourneau in Peoria.
She became a member of Providence Chapel Church on October 28, 1934, where she was active as a Sunday School Teacher, pianist/organist, and treasurer.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Women since July of 1947, enjoyed giving piano lessons, and has been an active free babysitter for many little folks.  She was also an avid quilt maker and quilter.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at Providence Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Providence Chapel Memorial Fund.

Jason M. Engle


Bryant- Jason M. Engle, 44, of Wayne, OK and formerly of Bryant, passed away July 11, 2015 in Oklahoma.

He was born September 18, 1970 at Canton, the son of Garry E. and Rose M. (Mallicoat) Engle. Survivors include his father, Garry Engle of Bryant, his mother, Rose Barnett of Milwaukee, WI; two daughters, Nichole (Matthew) Reneau of Canton, and Carrie Engle of Glasford, one son, Jason Engle Jr. of Chicago, three grandchildren, Zoey Demotte, Matthew Renaeu Jr; Kaylee Cox, and expecting two more. Also surviving are two brothers, Heath Barnett of Waukesha, WI; Jacob (Jami) Engle of Peoria, one sister, Joni (Glen) Jackway of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Donald Engle Sr.

Jason worked as a laborer, and was a member of Buckheart Fire Department.

Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 22, 2015 at Oredorff- Breeds Cemetery at rural Canton. A luncheon will be held at the Bryant Village Hall following the service, and if possible please bring a side dish. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family.

Sally S. Fleming, 71, of Smithfield passed away at 9:00 am Sunday, August 16, 2015 at her residence.  She was born on May 20, 1944 in Canton to Archie and Francis (Werry) Strode.  Surviving is a son Eric (Amy) Fleming of Galesburg, 4 grandchildren, and 2 sisters; Nancy Brown of Maquon and Linda Slaight of Canton.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents and a son Kirk.  She worked at Wal-Mart and enjoyed fishing and feeding birds.
Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton where visitation will be 1 hour prior to services.  The Rev. Lois Smock

Canton – Lois J. Smock, 90, of Canton, died at 7:01 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Sunset Manor in Canton.
She was born in Bushnell on June 3, 1925 to Clyde and Marie (Hershenroder) Carpenter.
She married Leslie Smock in Quincy on May 9, 1944. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1999.
Surviving are four children Beverly (Wendell) Yost of Texas, Robert (Connie) Smock of Farmington, Carolyn Williamson of Canton and James (Heidi) Smock of Georgia, 13 grandchildren Angelia (Smock) Dreher, Heather (Smock) Getz, Kimberlee (Smock) Spencer, Nichole (Smock) Reiten, Dan Smock, Jason Williamson, Justin Williamson, Carmen (Smock) Drew, Allison Smock, Tyler Smock, Skylee Smock, Marcus Rude, and Lisa Yost, and many great-grandchildren.
Lois loved her family dearly and appreciated the time they spent visiting while convalescing.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers Gene, Paul and Verle Carpenter, a set of infant twin siblings, and her sister Evelyn Taylor.
Family graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21 at Bushnell Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Lewistown- Dennis E. Davis, 62, of 328 N. Main St. passed away at 4:12 AM Friday August 14, 2015 at his home.

He was born July 22, 1953 at Canton the son of Thurman L. and Jessie L. (Harn) Davis. They preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Jeramy (Krista) Davis of Lewistown, three daughters, Heather (Tino Cipolla) Davis, and Hollie (James) Putman both of Wonder Lake, and Addie (Tyler) Kimbro of Vermont, seven step children, Jayson Herrick, Angela Miller, Stormy Strait, Shawna Anderson, Jenni Frazier, Elaina Tennison, and Shawn Newlan, one brother, Larry Davis of St. David, thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen step grandchildren.

Dennis was a chipping hammer operator at Caterpillar for 37 years and was a member of UAW Local 974. He was of Methodist Faith.

Lewistown – William C. “Bill” Davison, 63, of Lewistown, formerly of Norris, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on May 26, 1952 in Canton to Harrison William and Irene L. (Courtney) Davison.
He married Jane Bugos in Canton on October 19, 1985. She survives.
Other survivors include two children William C. III (Terrie Kay) Davison of Lewistown and Tonya Sue (Jeff) Thompson of Smithfield, five grandchildren, Kelsey Marie Pribble, Kyler Scott Thompson, Tanisha Jo Davison, Taylor Ann Irene Davison, and Dusty Wyatt Alan Davison, one great granddaughter Amelia Rae Davison, two sisters Linda (Charles) Russell of Brereton and Sandra (William) Long of Vermont, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles..
Bill was a truck driver and a Teamster. He was a member of the Canton Assembly of God.
He loved to camp, fish and spend quality time with his family.

Paula Taylor


Canton – Paula A. Park Taylor, 59, of Canton passed away at 6:48 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born June 11, 1956, in Rushville, the daughter of James (Iva) Park and Betty (Sid) Peterson.  She first married Todd A. Zaborac on December 20, 1975, and later married Richard L. Taylor on April 2, 1994.  He preceded her in death on September 15, 2010.
Surviving are her two daughters, Adrenne (Bill) Embree of St. David and Tara (Joe) Drinkwater of Canton; two grandchildren, Tayler and Gage Embree; two step-daughters, Kelly (David) Taylor and Kathy (Chris) Walljasper; four step-grandchildren, Jesse and Zachary Taylor, and Danielle and Rachel Walljasper; two brothers, James (Cindy) Park and Michael (Carol) Park, both of Houston, TX; four sisters, Debra (Michael) Stambaugh of Canton, Rebecca (John) Hubbard of Peoria, Linda (Tom) Smith of Nacogdoches, TX, and Brenda (Brian Morse) Park of Yates City; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Fisher Lee Drinkwater.
Paula was a homemaker.  She enjoyed baking, candy making, and spending time with her grandchildren and pets.

Janice Stanfel Odorizzi

 Janice Stanfel Odorizzi, 74, of Canton passed away at 7:59 am Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Graham Hospital in Canton.  She was born on July 29, 1941 in Canton to Rudy and Olive (Smith) Stanfel.  She married Wayne Odorizzi on April 17, 1993 in Canton.  He survives along with 4 sons; Mark (Jo Ann) Odorizzi of Mt. Olive, IL, Mike (Juli) Odorizzi of Highland, IL, Marion (Jean) Odorizzi of Edwardsville, IL, and Matt (Lisa) Odorizzi of Mt. Olive, IL, seven grandkids; Rosemary Rae Ann, Kourtney, Jake (Carissa), Anna, Joe, Ashley, and Hailey, sister Sondra Rumler, and 2 nieces; Andrea, and Alicia.  Janice was preceded in death by her parents.
She worked for 52 years as a legal secretary for Ralph Froehling.  Janice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton where she was a choir member.  She was a member of Fulton County Legal Secretary’s Association.  Janice loved to polka dance and her Croatian heritage.

William E. Heehler


William E. Heehler, 83, of Canton, passed away at 8:45 pm Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home.  He was born January 1rst, 1932, in Chicago to Raymond and Ruth (Johnson) Heehler.  William married Mary Coulter in June 1982.  She survives.  He was a member of the Covenant Community Church in Canton.  He loved his Chicago Cubs and reading his bible.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday Aug. 13 at his church.  Robert Davis will officiate.  There will be no visitation and cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials can be made to Sunset Manor.

Robert Hart


Canton – Robert Byrl Hart, 83, of Canton died at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born September 7, 1931, in Cuba to Earl P. and Effie L. (Johnson) Hart.  He married Donna M. Porter on September 25, 1953.  She preceded him in death on April 22, 1985.
He is survived by two daughters, Roberta (Raymond) Young of Cuba and Marlynna (Monty) McClaughry of Fiatt; six grandchildren, Joshua A. Windsor, Matthew, Robert, and Chase McClaughry, Matthew Young, and Madeleine (T.D.) VanMiddlesworth; one brother, James Hart; two sisters-in-law, Doris Hart and Marilee Porter; and one brother-in-law, Maurice Wilhoit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Robert attended Cuba Schools and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He held a variety of jobs and retired from the Buckheart Coal Mine.
Bob was a member of the Cuba Christian Church, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Monday and Wednesday Retiree’s Bowling League at Linn Lanes.  He was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan.  Grandpa Hart enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and tinkering in his garage and at his farm outside of Fiatt.  He and Donna were avid hunters, fishermen, and travelers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Burial, with military honors, will be at Brimfield Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cuba Christian Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Kenneth Zink


Canton – Kenneth A. “Ken” Zink, 53, of Canton, died at 3:31 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born in Canton on December 30, 1961 to Larry Dean and Carol J. (Ellis) Zink.
In the past, he was married to Judy R. (McCleary) Zink. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother Carol of Canton, two children Thomas Zink and Sarah Zink, both of Canton, two brothers Robert “Bob” (Laura) Zink and Larry L. Zink, both of Canton, niece Miranda “Mandy” Clardy, 3 nephews Joshua (Stephanie) Zink, Ryan Zink, and Jacob (Jessica) Zink, 2 great nephews Logan Clardy and Jacob Zink Jr., and great niece Emma Clardy.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Ken played football and baseball in high school. In years to follow, he very much enjoyed watching sports and drinking beer with his friends, often engaging in very interesting conversation during breaks in the action.
Ken was a carpenter for many years, later to become a superintendent and estimator. He loved his trade and was always available to help family and friends with many projects. He helped many family and friends learn the trade he loved, with advice and helpful hands. Ken had a great respect of all the trades. He loved the construction field, meeting many professionals, skilled tradesmen and laborers. He developed many friendships along the way.
Ken enjoyed fishing and loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, enjoying many trips with his friends and family, often finding interesting landmarks, food establishments and scenery. He loved the open road, the wind in his face, and the second family he had to ride with. He will be there on every ride, alongside, and in our hearts, always.
A visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 12 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Cremation rites will follow. Burial of ashes will be private at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, American Lung Association, or University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Stephen Webber



Stephen R. Webber, 72, of Canton passed away at 10:48 am Saturday, August 8, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was born February 8, 1943 in Peoria to Ronald M. and Mildred E. (Willett) Webber.  Stephen married Janet Britain on July 28, 1996 in New Martinsville, WV.  She survives along with a son Michael (Becky) Webber of Corydon, IN, 2 step sons; Stuart (Chris) Michael of Chillicothe, and Scott Michael of Peoria, 2 grandkids; Jacob and Paige, 2 step granddaughters, a sister Donna (Bob) Parker of Wisconsin, ex daughter in law Tracy Webber, and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Stephen worked at Caterpillar for 30 years as a supervisor in the engine division.  He was an Army veteran serving from 1961-1967.  Stephen was a life time member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion.
Services will be 1:30 pm Sunday, August 16th at the VFW in Canton with the Rev. Clayton Lambert


Canton – Clayton Levi Lambert, 29, of Canton, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday August 5, 2015 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
He was born in Canton on March 6, 1986 to Jerry and Marie Nebergall Lambert.
Surviving is his father Jerry of Canton, mother Marie Bainter of Lewistown, daughter Hallie Jo Lambert of Cuba, brothers Jerry Alan Lambert of East Peoria and Anthony Lee Lambert of Canton, sisters Jessica Lambert of Peoria and Emmallia Lambert of Bartonville, and grandmother Sharon St. Clair of St. David.
Clayton loved fishing and was artistically talented.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, with services following at 7 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

Carl Reneau


Canton – Carl E. Reneau, 79, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Heartland Health Care in Canton.
He was born on July 7, 1936, in Canton to Oral and Oma (Berry) Reneau.  They preceded him in death.
He married Janice Maxson on December 23, 1971 in Canton.  She survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Carl Eric Reneau of Altamonte Springs, FL., Tyson (Kelli) Reneau of Canton, Clinton (Jessica) Reneau of Canton, sister Joyce Reneau of Canton, grandchildren Kianna, Tyler, Kelsie, Cullen, Sawyer, Jaxin and one arriving in February, sister in law Judy Reneau and eight nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Ronald.
Carl graduated from Lewistown High School and served in the US Air Force Reserves for six years.  He worked for Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 1992.  He attended the Nazarene Church in Lewistown and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ipava.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial, with military honors, will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Wyatt Booth


Canton –Wyatt Booth, 49, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, his residence.
He was born on September 12, 1965, in Canton, to Wyman and Lela List Booth.  They preceded him in death.
Surviving is his brother, Troy (Pam Rose) Booth of Canton, two sisters, Genna Davison of Princeton, Shannon (Dennis) Robertson of Pekin and several nieces and nephews.
Wyatt attended and received a degree from Morrison Institute of Technology.  He also was a Civil War enthusiast and participated in re-enactments in the past.   
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m., Saturday August 8, 2015 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be held one hour prior.
Burial will be at the White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Denny Dalmasso


Canton – Denny Dalmasso, 62, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at the Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
He was born on May 9, 1953 in Canton, to Joseph and Maxine (Greenwell) Dalmasso Jr.  They preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Julie (Troy) Reeder of Canton, Erik (Julie) Dalmasso of Macomb, grandchildren Madison and Drew Reeder, and two brothers Gary (Judith) Dalmasso of Silvis and Terry (Mary) Dalmasso of Rock Island.
Denny retired from the Lewistown School District in 2008, starting his career in St. David. He was a basketball coach in St. David, the Lewistown Jr. High 7th and 8th grade boys’ team and the Ingersoll Middle School 7th grade team.  He ended his coaching career with his grandson’s traveling basketball team.  He was the President of the Spoon River College Alumni Association and organized the Alumni Achievement Reception.  He also was a columnist for the Canton Daily Ledger and the Fulton County Democrat covering football and basketball games.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Friday.
Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Spoon River College Foundation, the Lewistown Booster Club or the Canton Traveling Basketball Association.

Billy L. Widger Jr.


Fairview- Billy L. Widger Jr., 62, of Fairview passed away at 8:46 PM Sunday, August 2, 2015 at his home.

He was born in Canton, March 16, 1953.  He married Margaret Williams, in Fairview, on September 14, 1973, she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Amber (Richard) Quin of Cuba and Amy Widger of Galesburg; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dave (Raelene) Widger of Canton, Tim (Patty) Widger of Tennessee, and Brian Oliver of Canton; and two sisters, Tracy Hines of Canton and Kimberly Bitner of Cuba.

Billy was a heavy equipment operator for the Fulton County Highway Department, retiring after 37 years of service.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Services will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton, where visitation will be held two hours before the service.  Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Gerald Foley


Canton – Gerald R. “Jerry” Foley, 75, of Canton, died at 9:35 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.
He was born in Peoria on February 17, 1940 to John Joseph and Verna Elizabeth (Summer) Foley.
He first married Karolyn Komnick, he then married Dorothy Dunham in Lewistown on February 18, 2004. She survives.
Other survivors include three children Gary (Megan) Foley of Cartersville, GA, Christopher (Angellia) Foley of Hampton, VA and Colette (Kevin) Hill of Mackinaw, four step children Russell Dunham of Cuba, Roger Dunham of Mapleton, Debbie (Steve) McPherson of Canton and Teresa (Tom) Kirkpatrick of Canton, 7 grandchildren Jonah Foley, Angelina Foley, Delaney Foley, Noah Foley, Kenneth Hill, Kaitlyn Hill, and Kaleb Hill, 12 step- grandchildren Jim Morgan, Stephanie Jarvis, Jessica (Kyle) Bainter, Tyson McPherson, Kyle McPherson, Kristin (Tom) Miller, Zane Kirkpatrick, Cassie Dunham, Sarah Dunham, Emily Dunham, Renee Dunham and Ava Rose Dunham, 5 great-grandchildren, one brother Francis (Marjorie) Foley of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister Patricia Caldwell.
Foley worked as a proof design engineer for Caterpillar, retiring from Mossville and Pontiac. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of the Canton Elks Lodge # 626, Knights of Columbus, and very active in the VFW Post # 1984 in Canton. He loved spending time at the Goose Ranch and was active in local elections.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday August 4 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Cemetery near Fairview. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Canton Elks Lodge.
Memorials may be made to the Canton Elks or VFW.
