Mark A. Mangold

Mark A. Mangold, 72, of Manito, passed away at his home at 3:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 25, 2024. He was born May 3, 1951, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Freeman and Audrey (Dennison) Mangold.

Mr. Mangold is survived by two children: Justin (Brandy) Mangold, and Afton (Josh Abbott) Mangold, all of Manito; as well as three grandchildren: Cashlin Abbott, Zander Mangold and Draven Mangold, and Caden Abbott. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Phil Mangold; and two sisters, Sue Mangold and Cheryl Garver.
Mr. Mangold served in the US Army 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1969 – 1971. He worked for Caterpillar Inc., for thirty-five years. He later became a police officer until the 1990s. He worked as a Security Guard at the Mason County Courthouse until retiring in 2021.
Cremation rites have been accorded and private graveside services will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery, in Springfield, Illinois.

Dorothy E. Danner

Dorothy E. Danner, 90, passed away at 4:08 am on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsythe, IL. She was born on March 11, 1934 in Fulton County, IL, the daughter of Glen and Verna (Brillhart) France. Dorothy married Victor Danner on May 7, 1954 in Astoria, IL. Victor preceded Dorothy in death on January 19, 2017.


Also preceding her in death is her daughter-in-law; Lori Danner, great-granddaughter; Aubrey, and two brothers; Willis France and Willard France.

She is survived by one son; Scott Danner of Decatur, IL, three grandchildren; Jason Danner, Nicole Ekiss and Jennifer Danner, and five great-grandchildren; Elana, Aiden, Ashlynn, Avery, and Nolan.

Dorothy and Victor owned and operated Danner Electric Shop in Astoria from 1961 to 1967. She was also a school secretary and most recently sold pre-need funeral plans for numerous funeral homes and businesses.

Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed reading.

Margaret A. Wheeler

Canton- Margaret A. Wheeler, 89, of Canton, passed away at 1:42 PM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at The Loft of Canton. She was born on September 24, 1934 in Ipava, a daughter of Vane and Louise (Wickert) Littleton. She married Walter Lawrence Wheeler on May 8, 1954, he preceded her in death on January 1, 2023.


Also preceding her in death were her parents, and two brothers, Rodney, and Eugene.


Surviving are her two sons, Greg (Rita) Wheeler, and Tim Wheeler; one grandson, Joe (Josie) Wheeler, and one great-grandson, Lincoln Wheeler.


Margaret worked and retired from Canton School District #66, working in food service. She loved flowers, and was an avid Gardner.


Per Margaret’s wishes, services will be private, and cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Home & Crematory in Canton. James C. Evans, Jr.

James C. Evans Jr, 82, of Hanna City, passed away at 4:38 am, Monday, April 29, 2024 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice home in Peoria. He was born on July 12, 1941 in Farmington to James C. and Ella Mae (Swift) Evans Sr.

James married Patsy Rogers on September 12, 1959 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2022. Also preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Debra Gibson, three brothers; Joe Evans, Bob Evans and Tom Evans, sister Linda Morgan and grandson Skylar James Evans,

Surviving is his son Tim (Kim) Evans of Hanna City, sister Carol Danz of Farmington, two grandsons; Trace (Kelsey Mull) Evans and Tanner (Morgan) Evans, two great-grandkids; Skylar James Evans and Layla Joy Evans and son-in-law Don Gibson.

James was a volunteer Fire Fighter for West Peoria, member of Elmwood Masonic Lodge, IHSA Official for basketball and football, loved attending all sporting events for his grandkids. He got the nickname of “Milkshake Evans” which he lived up to, even to end. James also played sports in High School and coached Peoria Post #2 American Legion baseball team for many years. He started working at Brucker Company (HVAC Supply Company) in 1972. In 1983 he started his own company TEDECO as owner/operator. He got to go on his last trip to Florida recently to see his great-granddaughter for the first time and declared his life was full.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton are in charge of arrangements. Steve Sepich

Steven L. Sepich, 74, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

He was born on September 7, 1949 in Canton to Matthew and Albina (Picton) Sepich.

He married Martha Reneau on December 23, 1970 in St David. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2016.

Surviving are two children, Trisha (Chuck) Shubert of Canton, Jill Herrick of Lewistown, one brother, Marty (Thresa) Sepich of Bryant, two sisters, Jana Sepich of Peoria, Paula (Rich Elam) Sepich of Peoria Heights, four grandchildren, Sydney Shubert, Saydey Shubert, Nicholas Shubert, Drake Herrick and several nieces and nephews including Matthew Sepich.

Also preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, Frank Sepich.

Steve served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked as the weatherization coordinator for Fulton County. He had many hobbies and interests throughout his life but his passion was working on the family farm and spending time with his grandkids.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1pm at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation 2 hours prior.

Burial with military honors will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.

Gene Pelton

Roland E. “Gene” Pelton, 95, of Peoria and formerly of Lewistown passed away at 11:52 am Friday April 26, 2024 at his home.


He was born April 19, 1929, at Astoria, the son of Harold F. and Eva E. (Miller) Pelton. He married Clarice M. Yocum on May 30, 1950, at Lewistown. She died June 8, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rick Pelton, one brother, and one sister. Survivors include two daughters, Eva (Scott) Grubbs of Peoria, and Connie Rardon of Quincy, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one brother, Harold Ray (Marie) Butler of East Peoria, and two sisters, Lucretia (Ed) Yocum of Florida, and Betty Sheets of Ohio.


Gene was a WW 2 Navy veteran. He worked many years as a jeweler in Lewistown, Quincy, and Peoria before retiring.


A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Friday May 3, 2024 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites conducted by the United States Navy, the Lewistown VFW Post 5001, and American Legion Bishop Post 1.

Richard “Rick” Dean Savage

Richard “Rick” Dean Savage, 71, of Table Grove, passed away at 2:34 p.m. on April 25, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 31, 1952 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Dale and Evelyn (Bowhay) Savage. He married Cris Ingalsbe at New Salem Christian Church in Adair, Illinois on February 12, 1972.

Rick is survived by his wife, Cris Savage of Table Grove; 3 children: Erin (John) Wherley of Table Grove, Alicia (David) Palm of Table Grove, and Derrick (Leeanna) Savage of Bushnell; his favorite child (dog), Shadow; 12 grandchildren: Alexa (Christopher) Vivona, Danielle Wherley, Andrew (Ashlee) Palm, Savana (Caleb) Lascelles, Levi (Kaylee Steele) Palm, Duane Brim, Addison Savage, Braxton Wherley, Jack Brim, Nolan Skinner, Niales Skinner, and Nash Skinner; 4 great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Elijah, and Isaiah Vivona and Madelynn Palm; his mother, Evelyn Savage; 3 brothers: Bob (Nancy) Savage, Terry Savage, and Kenny (Staci) Savage; 2 sisters: Kathie Savage and Cristy (David) Ramos; and 1 sister-in-law: Debbie Savage. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Savage; father, Dale Savage; and 2 brothers: Mike Savage and Jack Savage.
Rick was a 1970 graduate of V.I.T. and worked for many years as a truck driver, a lifestyle he got to share with Cris as they worked as team drivers for several years. He enjoyed gardening, working on vehicles, and renovating his home. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family the most.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Vermont Christian Church in Vermont, Illinois, with Mike Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow the services at Harris Cemetery outside of Table Grove. We would be honored for anyone that has access to a semi to bobtail in the funeral procession for Rick's final ride.

Rosalie Clifford

Lewistown- Rosalie Clifford, 97, of Lewistown passed away at 5:57 PM Monday April 22, 2024 at Graham Walnut Terrace Nursing Home.


She was born April 6, 1927 at Bushnell, the daughter of Clyde and Stella (Derry) Guilliams. She married Kenneth Clifford on December 31, 1947 at Macomb. He died July 23, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Guilliams, three sisters, Marilie Whitman, Annie Neteler, and Sherrill Fields.


Rosalie farmed along with her husband. She also worked at Pratt Lumber & Hardware. She was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau.


A visitation will be held from 10 until 11:45 AM Monday April 29th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. A graveside service will follow at 12 noon at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Pastor Shane Smith officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice. Marguerite M. Swisher

Marguerite Mae Swisher, 96, of Hanna City, Illinois, formerly of Topeka, Illinois, passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Liberty Village/Pekin Manor in Pekin, Illinois. She was born on December 17, 1927 in Canton, Illinois to William and Ethel (Vorhees) Whisman. She married Larry Swisher on June 11, 1985 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2012.

Marguerite is survived by her children: Dale Lawson, Margie Karl, and Linda Vannatta, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Coke Trendel, son: Robert Lawson, sons-in-law: Gary Karl, Van Vannatta, and Yankee Trendel, and sisters: Mayme Stockham and Bertha Sullivan.
Marguerite worked for many years at Mason State Tree Nursery and was a former member of the Chautauqua-Goofy Ridge Sportmans Club. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and getting together with friends and family.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private burial will be held at Summum Cemetery in Summum, Illinois.
