Tana Postin


Canton-Tana M. Postin. 53, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at her residence.
She was born on August 31, 1962, in Galesburg, to Harold and Shirley (Lambert) Cozadd.
She married Geoffrey Postin on November 6, 1993 in Ellisville.  He survives.
Surviving is her daughter, Shelby Postin of Canton, her father Harold, her grandmother, Rubie Bouc, by whom she was raised and one brother J.D. Boyte of Brookhaven, MS.
Tana worked as District Manager for 22 years for Movie Gallery.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, showing cattle and farming on the family farm where her favorite spot was running the combine.  She also had a passion for planting and tending to her flower beds around the house.  Tana was a terrific volunteer with the 4-H and other various organizations.  
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 2-5pm, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a funeral service on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 10 am, at the funeral home.
The Rev. Greg Ogle will officiate.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for her daughter C/O Mid America Bank or to her church.

William Wilson


FARMINGTON- William T. “Bill” Wilson, 74 of Farmington, passed away at 3:10 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Unity Point - Methodist in Peoria following a brief illness. He was born on May 31, 1941 in Peoria, a son of David Campbell and Mary Louise Cline Wilson. Bill married Karen M Crane-Goggin on May 3, 2015 in the 1st Presbyterian Church of Farmington. Karen's late husband, the Rev.Jack Goggin of Pontiac, IL died in 2014. Bill welcomed Karen's 8 children and 12 grandchildren into his growing family.  
 
Two spouses preceded Bill in death, Jane Blust and Donna Taylor. 
 
Surviving  are two daughters, Sarah (Phillip) Oest, Laura Sebastion both of Watauga, Texas; two sons, Steven Thomas Wilson of North Richland, Texas; Jeffrey P. (Gwen Templeton) Wilson of Holster, CA. also surviving are five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one brother, Jim Wilson of Spring Lake, Michigan; one step-brother, Jay McMaster, of Galesburg, and one step-sister, Sue (Bob) Myer of Iowa. A brother, Judge Dean (Winnie) Wilson preceded Bill in death. 

Bill was a Graduate of Wabash College in Indiana, a proud member of the Little Giants Basketball Team and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was the Director of Military Contracts for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas from 1968 to 2001. After retirement, Bill & Donna made their home in Farmington. Bill was a member and a ruling elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, President of the Farmington Historical Society and he served on the Boards of the Farmington Academic Foundation, the Farmington Cemetery Board, and the Fulton County Historical Association. He was an avid volunteer for the Farmington Historical Museum, a member of the Farmington Chapter of the Moose and a devoted participant in the early morning "Spit & Whittle" Club, a group of friends that met for coffee at Kersh Cafe. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Farmington. Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington. Burial will be in OakRidge Cemetery. Penny Wolfe


Canton – Penny E. Wolfe, 74, of Canton passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born August 24, 1941, in Canton to Arthur and Ethel (Murphy) Pollitt.
She married Louis A. Maddox and together they had six children, Michael (Suzie) Maddox of Overland Park, KS, Kenneth (Diane) Maddox of Cuba, Laurie L. (Joseph) Plecki of Canton, Julie Moore of Peoria, Jeffrey (Robyne Shirley) Maddox of Canton, and Leigh Ann (Kevin) Bonney of Lewistown.
She later married Carl G. Wolfe on October 24, 1987, in Canton.  He preceded her in death on March 30, 2006.
She is also survived by three sisters, Judy (Wes) Oliver, Peggy (the late Irrie) McWhorter, and Marilyn (Harvey) Henderson, all of Canton; two sisters-in-law, Jeri and Phyllis Pollitt; seventeen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William, Chuck, Wally, and Art Pollitt; and two sisters, Melba Kumer and Betty Bayless.
Penny worked as a LPN at several area nursing homes, but treasured the time she got to spend with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed going to yard sales and decorating her home.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry or to the Illinois Cancer Society.

Robert S. Conrad


Canton – Robert S. Conrad, 68, of Canton passed away at 12:55 am Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was born on May 18, 1947 in Canton to Lyman and Beulah Jane (Snowden) Conrad.
Surviving are three daughters; Kimberly (Michael) Clark of Mahomet, Michelle Conrad of Canton and Bobbi Conrad of Patriot, OH, three sisters; Beverly Lowe of Sandwich, Judy (Chuck) Williams of Canton and Linda (Ray) Fairburn of Havana, three grandchildren; Nicholas Evans of Canton, Jacob Brawdy of Charleston, S.C. and Emily Clark of Mahomet.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Louis Conrad and sister Janice Conrad.
Robert retired from International Harvester Company.

Ronald M. Newton


Fairview – Ronald M. Newton, 76, of Fairview passed away at 5:16 pm Monday, April 25, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was born on July 23, 1939 in Buckheart Township to Marion and Clella M. “Kelly” (Lillie) Newton.  Ron married Dixie L. Shields on October 2, 1960 in Canton.  She survives along with three children; David Newton of Holland, MI, Dustin Newton of Fairview, and Ronda (Todd) Hess of Hudson, two granddaughters; Caitlin French of Hudson, and Mason Newton of Canton.
Ron collected and showed Case farm toys and Lionel trains. He was President of Bald Bluff Tractor Pullers where he announced tractor pulls and also did the announcing at Fairview Livestock shows.  He was Santa’s helper for over 45 years.  Ron served on the Fairview Fire Department for 25 years.  He worked as manager in several fertilizer plants, drove a school bus for Valley Schools, helped with planting and harvesting for several area farmers, and was the grounds keeper at the Fairview Fin and Feather Fishing Club.  He was a member of Shields Chapel United Methodist Church.
Services will be 1pm Thursday, April 28 at Shields Chapel Church with the Rev. Wally Carlson and Rev. Dean Austin officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.  Burial will follow in Shields Chapel Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Shields Chapel Church or Cemetery.

Joanna Jarvis


Canton – Joanna Jarvis, 89, of Canton, passed away at 8:23 pm on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Graham Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1926 in Industry, IL to Howard and Verna (Olson) Messmore. She married Ora F. Jarvis on June 6, 1948 in Colchester, IL. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2010.

Also preceded are her parents; son, Larry Jarvis; and one brother.

Surviving are three children, Lynn (Phyllis) Jarvis of Canton, Judy (Bill) Leitze of Canton, and Chuck (Denise) Jarvis of Canton; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Joanna worked at Camp Ellis and also in Galesburg during WWII taking care of wounded vets. She was a member of First Christian Church in Canton. She enjoyed being very active in her church, winters in Florida, and spending time with her family and friends.

Memorial service will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton where a visitation will be held from 11-12:30 PM. Rev. Glenn Nestlerode will officiate. Doris A. Bordner

Pekin- Doris A. Bordner, 90, of Pekin and formerly of Lewistown, passed away at 7:04 AM Tuesday April 26, 2016 at Pekin Manor.

She was born December 15, 1925 at Delavan, the daughter of Ray W. and Jennie M. (Jennings) Hymbaugh. She married Henry “Ray” Bordner at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Hopedale. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Homer, Wilbur, and Wesley, two sisters, Violet, and Donna. Surviving is one sister, Lila Jenkins of Pekin, 19 nieces and nephews, and triple great nieces and nephews.

Doris graduated from Lewistown High School. She and her husband farmed in Lewistown for 20 years, and also worked as a dental assistant for Dr. J.R. Thompson in Lewistown for 34 years. She loved to play cards, bingo, vacation trips to Las Vegas, and attend family gatherings. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Philip D. Graham


JOLIET – Philip D. Graham, 84 of Joliet, IL. formerly of Canton, passed away, on April 23, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice. Phil was born to Ray and Addie Smith Graham from Ipava, IL on September 22, 1931. He graduated with the class of 1949 in Canton. Phil married Patricia A. Wilcoxen from Lewistown, IL on June 9, 1956.

Phil is survived by his wife Patricia, sisters, Norma (Maurice) Russell and Wilma (late Ray Sr.) Widger both of Canton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lawrence, William, Robert and Doke.

Phil was employed with the city of Joliet Engineering Department, retiring in 1989 after 30 years. Phil loved watching his “Cubbies” and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory  in Canton, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Eloise E. Heitz


Cuba- Eloise E. Heitz, 87, of rural Cuba passed away at 5:42 AM Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

She was born July 27, 1928 at Rushville the daughter of Walter and Lena (Juett) Phillips. She married Roy L. Heitz on August 2, 1949 at Palmyra, MO. He died August 27, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Michael Cowser. Surviving are one son, Richard (Marcia) Heitz of Cuba, two daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Cowser of Bradford, and Dianna (Gary) Graham of Canton, one brother, Robert (Shirley) Phillips of Rushville, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Eloise was a farm wife. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Reverend Kenneth Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery. Jerry J. Picco


Norris – Jerry J. Picco, 77, of Norris, passed away at 6:30 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria, IL. He was born on June 14, 1938 in Canton to Giovannie “John” and Emma (DuFour) Picco. He married Shirley Reed on April 8, 1961 in Norris, she preceded him in death in 2010.

Also preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Angie Picco; and brother, John Picco Jr.

Surviving are two children, Gina Picco of Brereton, and Steven Picco of Norris; four grandchildren, Tyler, Demitri, Emma, and Erica; one great-grandchild, Lillie; and one sister, Martha List of Canton.

In the early 60’s to mid 70’s Jerry and Shirley operated a small take out business next to their residence. Jerry last worked as a meat manager at Kellers until 1983, then he moved on to owning and operating Picco’s restaurant in Norris. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Norris and Farmington Legion. He enjoyed taking rides in the country, writing poetry, and gardening. Jerry was in the Army Reserves.

Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton. Rev. Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Linda J. Chipman


Lewistown- Linda J. Chipman, 57, of rural Lewistown passed away at 10:48 AM Saturday April 23, 2016 at her home.

She was born September 23, 1958 at Canton the daughter of Jerry and Nina (Goforth) Scalf. She married Eldon Chipman on July 19, 1976 at Lewistown. He survives. Also surviving are her mother and step father, Nina (Robert) Smith of Lewistown, four daughters, Erin Chipman of Lewistown, Megan (David) Smith of Norris, Tracy Chipman of Canton, and Haley Chipman of Peoria Heights, two grandchildren, Logan and Carson Smith, and one sister, Julie (Jim) Bickle of Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Lori Bucher.

Linda was the manager of Spoon River Towers for 20 years and she was also a piano teacher. Linda was a lifelong member of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown where she sang with the choir and was the pianist for many years. She had been a member of a string trio where she traveled and played for many events. Linda was a member and president of the Spoon River Professional Women’s Club, and treasurer of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, collecting and visiting lighthouses, working on the farm, riding her scooter, and spending time with her grandchildren. Linda loved being with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Brant Reed officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Caitlin K. Place

Canton – Caitlin K. Place, 29, of Canton passed away at 2:50 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at her residence.  She was born on December 29, 1986 in Phoenix, AZ. to Danny R. and Kathryn (Carmack) Price.  Surviving is her mother Kathryn, two children; Sophia Place, and Kelsey Place, grandmother Wanda (late Bob) Carmack, brother Luke (Michelle) Price, two uncles; Dan Carmack, and Tom Price, aunt Darlene Ghent, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and grandfather.
Caitlin was a member of First Christian Church in Canton.  She loved books, watching movies, and spending time with family, friends and her best buddy Sadie.

Gerald “Jerry” Kinnamon


Lewistown- Gerald L. “Jerry” Kinnamon, 65, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:38 AM Wednesday April 20, 2016 at the OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born November 24, 1950 at Canton, the son of Gerald E. and Leola (Johnson) Kinnamon. Survivors include one daughter, Sonya Kauble of Casper, WY; one granddaughter, two brothers, Randy Kinnamon of Lewistown, and Mike (Chris) Kinnamon of Dunfermline, one aunt, Vonee Davis of Lewistown, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, one uncle, and his grandparents.

Jerry worked at Kinnamon Service Station in Lewistown for many years, and later worked as a truck driver for Star Transport. He was last working at Havana Metal Culverts. He was a member of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown, and the Lewistown VFW Auxiliary. He enjoyed tractor pulling as a hobby.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday April 29th at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, with Reverend Brant Reed officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday April 28th from 5-7 PM at the memorial home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown VFW Auxiliary. Ruth Pascal

Lewistown – Ruth Pascal, 84, of Lewistown passed away at 8:49 pm Monday, April 18, 2016 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.  She was born on September 18, 1931 in Farmington to James and Barbara (Wilson) Shaw.  Ruth married Robert M. “Bob” Pascal on June 30, 1950 in Canton.  They were the first to be married at St. Peters Episcopal Church.  He preceded her in death on September 25, 2010.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, a son Robert Pascal Jr, two brothers; James Shaw, and John “Jack” Shaw, and two sisters; Grace Rusnak, and Betty Lidwell.
Surviving are two sons; William Pascal of Lewistown, and Michael Pascal of Lewistown, two foster sons; Edward (Darlene) Allison of Ohio, and Danny (Judy) Bowers of Sandwich, brother Jack (Sandra) Vlahovich of St. David, six grandchildren; Justin Gorsage, Michael (Nichole Downing) Pascal, Caitlin (Detrik Hendee) Thrasher, Krista (Eric) Banks, William (Elizabeth) Pascal, and Amber McKenzie, eleven great-grandchildren; Emery, Paxton, Lillyan, Layla, Adleigh, Delanie, Ember, Zepplin, Raevyn, Tyler, and Kyle, several nieces and nephews, and special friends; Debbie Breckenridge, Kim Pascal, and Brenda (Randy) Rumler.
Ruth was a welder at International Harvester Company and of the Episcopal faith.  She was raised in St. David and was an avid collector of antiques.  Ruth also coached girls’ softball team which she had really enjoyed.  She also enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, putting on her yearly scenic drive, cats and her dog Ruey, and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials can be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.

Meagan Beaird


Cuba – Meagan L. Beaird, 18, of Cuba, passed away at 11:10 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Smithfield, IL. She was born on December 15, 1997 in Canton to Brian Beaird and Misty (McKenzie) Beaird, they survive, and her dogs, Lili and Ivy rose.

Also surviving are her paternal grandparents, Steve (Mary) Beaird of Fiatt, and Patty (Goose) Franzoni of Canton; paternal great-grandmother, Josie Beaird; maternal grandparents, Rich (Lynne Smith) McKenzie of Lewistown, and Mendy McKenzie of Lewistown; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret McKenzie of Lewistown; and two uncles, Stevie (Pam) Beaird and Matt (Amber) McKenzie.

Meagan was a senior at Cuba High School and a member of the FFA. She loved being in the thick of things. She played Basketball and Volleyball. She drove anything with wheels from tractors, dirt bikes, and dragsters, to stock cars. She enjoyed fishing and the farm. She loved the wind in her hair riding in her dad’s sidecar, on her own Harley or in her Jeep with her dogs.

Sharon Bauman


Peoria-Sharon Lynn Bauman, 74, passed away on April 17, 2016, at 3:23am, with her loved ones by her side. She is now with her Lord and Savior.
She was born July 29, 1941, the daughter of Clinton and Virginia (Chapman) Utsinger. They preceded her in death.
She married the love of her life Lionel "Lyle" Bauman in Lewistown, Il, on April 18, 1958. He survives.
Together they were blessed with eight children Nikki (Gary) Froman of Peoria, Melody (David) Hitesman of Peoria, Linda Bauman of Peoria, Charles (Lori) Bauman of Peoria, Lionel (Tina) Bauman Jr of Creve Coure, Tonya (the late Ernie Sr) Sally of Peoria, Ivan (Crystal) Bauman of Energy IL, Dawn (B.B.) Bauman of Peoria.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one brother Rick (Marylin) Utsinger of Canton, one sister Nancy Utsinger of Canton, several nieces, nephews and adopted daughter Nancy and Pap Chaney.
She was also preceded in death by 1 grandson Derick Bauman, 3 great grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
Sharon worked for Eagles cleaner in Peoria as a press operator. She also worked for Professional Maintenance as a custodian.
Sharon loved to play bingo, go to garage sales and putting puzzles together.
Her love for her family was the most important thing to her.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.
Pastor David Swain will be officiating.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fiatt Cemetery.

Gregor J. Herberger


CANTON- Gregor J. Herberger, 67, of Canton, passed away at 9:38 AM on April 14, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. He was born on March 1, 1949 in Pekin, a son of Herbert and Dorothy Shue Herberger. He married Debbie Owens on July 25, 1980 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Tanya Herberger of Canton, Gregor (Tanya) Herberger II of Pekin and Glenda (Joe) Aplin of Manito, and 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Herberger of Springfield and Herbie Herberger of Pekin, and two sisters, Sara Rebecca (Bob) Vanduker, and Clara Herberger both of Manito.

He was a foreman for the P & PU Railroad in East Peoria, retiring in 1991 and later worked for Kroger’s in Canton as a Produce Clerk. Gregor enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales with his daughter, Tanya, he also enjoyed watching his grandson, Eli play sports and enjoyed going fishing.

Gregor was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Mary Jean Hunter


Farmington - Mary Jean Hunter, 77, of Farmington, passed away at 6:15 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center of Canton. She was born on May 29, 1938 in Farmington to Stephen Franklin and Nora (Lenzi) Wilcoxen. She married William Lawrence Hunter on June 21, 1957 in Farmington. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2007.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, step-parents Lyle Woodcock and Donna Wilcoxen Mansker, her son William Lawrence Hunter, Jr., one brother Stephen Wilcoxen, one step-brother Robert Woodcock, two step-sisters Helen Davenport and Mary Louise Welker, and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are her daughters, Valerie (Ralph) Wagoner, Dorothy (Charles) Evon, and Norina Clark, who was also her caregiver for the last years of her life; twelve grandchildren, Robert (Brenda), Jeffrey (Patricia), Sean (Hilary) and Christina Wagoner, Amy (Steve) Marcucio, Nicholas (Kimberly), Steven, Carey and Raven Evon, Hannah Mulready, Cameron (Emily) Miller, and Autumn Clark; seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Larry (Judy), Danny (Leann), and Terry Wilcoxen; one sister Lynn (Mark) Volland; two step-brothers, Don (Judy) Woodcock and Tom Mattson; and one step-sister Debbie.

David “Jack” Hughes

David “Jack” Hughes, 88, of Bushnell, FL, formerly of Astoria, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Osprey Point Nursing Center in Bushnell, FL. He was born on March 23, 1928 in Astoria, the son of George and Grace (Stambaugh) Hughes. He married Dorthy Ostein in June of 1957 in Florida. She preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death is his daughter, Vicki Kolleck and sister, Geneva Howard.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Powers of Godfrey, 2 step-sons, Ben Kelly of Jefferson, GA and John Ostein of Bradenton, FL, step-daughter, Jean Ostein of Maryland, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother, George (and Doris) Hughes of Astoria and his nieces and nephews.

Jack was a Brick Mason and served in the US Army from 1950 to 1956.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Astoria Cemetery with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion. Chaplin Robert Spencer will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Association.

Raymond Young


Cuba- Raymond Young, 95, of Cuba, passed away peacefully at 7:28 AM Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Clayberg Nursing Home.

Raymond was born May 22, 1920 at Newbern, TN; the son of William and Dona (Bastin) Young. He married Bibiana J. Kumer on December 28, 1946. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and four brothers. On June 17, 2006, Raymond married Joann (Helle) Courtney. She survives, along with his four children, Diane Young (Dan Moore) of Cuba, Shirley (Cary) Bordner of Cuba, Vicki (John) Shoop of LaPorte, IN; and Raymond (Roberta) Young of Cuba, seven grandchildren, Jacob (Misuzu) Shoop, Rebekah Shoop, Elizabeth Shoop, Krysta (Brandon) Loucks, Andrew (Haley) Bordner, Matthew Young, and Madeleine (TD) VanMiddlesworth, four great grandchildren, Kayon Shoop, Mikayla Bordner, Peyton Bordner, and Isabella Loucks, four step children, Nancy Courtney (Leo) Potts of Indianapolis, IN; Jess Courtney of Raleigh, NC; Kath Courtney (Jim) Nelson of Delavan, and Julie Courtney (Lester) Bowles of Trivoli, ten step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.

Raymond was a WW II Army veteran, serving with the 272nd Infantry in the European Theater from 1942-1945. For two years prior to his service in the Army, Raymond worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Tennessee. He worked for International Harvester for 36 years until retiring in January of 1982. His retirement allowed him time for gardening, bowling, cooking, making peanut brittle to share with others, following his beloved St Louis Cardinals, and spending time with his family. He was a very loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and special uncle to many.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Cuba Christian Church, where visitation will be held two hours prior to services. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery with military rites conducted by Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533. Memorial contributions may be made to Cuba Christian Church or the Clayberg Nursing Home. Ronald Taylor


Ronald Taylor, 74, of Dunfermline, IL. passed away at 5:30 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.  He was born on January 11, 1942 in Canton to Claude B. and Anna L. (Schleich) Taylor.  Ron married Clela Danner on June 6, 1963 in Canton.  She survives along with four children; Bruce Taylor of Dunfermline, Mark (Monica) Taylor of Peoria Heights, Sherri Taylor of Bloomington, and Rod (Crystal) Taylor of DeWitt, brother Fredrick Taylor of Alexis, eight grandchildren; Erica, Cole, Olivia, Emily, Destany, Codi, Teagan, and Tinleigh and four great-grandchildren; Lillie, Lana, Kaleb, and Mavis.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Ron worked as a farmer his whole life and also ran Phillips 66 in Canton.  He later worked for I.H.C. and retired from Caterpillar in 1998.  He was a member of First Christian Church in Canton.

Ida Sherian Ward


Lewistown – Ida Sherian Ward, 71, of Lewistown, passed away at 4:20 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her residence. She was born on July 19, 1944 in Florida, to William Luther and Georgia May (Barfield) Kennedy Sr. She married Steven Ward on July 18, 2001 in Lewistown, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are two children, Ronald E. (Tracy) Allred and Pam Currington; three grandchildren, Shayna Allred, Brenya Allred, and Becky (Michael) Nutt; four great-grandchildren, Logan Brady, Mikey Nutt Jr., Daniel Nutt, and Samuel Joseph Nutt; one brother, William Luther (Dianne) Kennedy Jr.; one sister, Susan Darlene (Loren) Stempke; and cousin, Trudy Knowles-Trobaugh.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Ida worked as a Nurse at Graham Hospital for about 30 years.
