He was born April 5, 1940 at Peoria the son of Dwight D. and Margaret (Eddy) Stone. He married Janet L. Hummel on August 7, 1960 at Lewistown. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Brian (Candace) Stone, John (Vicky Black) Stone, Jeff (Elaine) Stone, and Darren Stone, two daughters, Lisa (Scott) Welker, and Kathy (Lonnie) Smith, one brother, Ron (Vicky) Haffner, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe’s first job was at Kroger in 1956. He was an insurance agent for a number of years and after various occupations he retired from construction in 2004. He was a member of First Christian Church in Canton. Joe was also a member of the Canton Area Heritage Center, Lewistown Lodge AF&AM 104, Scottish Rite, and the Shriners.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday October 17th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. A masonic service will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday and visitation will follow from 10 AM until time of service at the memorial home.
