Eugene G. “Boom” Jones

Marietta- Eugene G. “Boom” Jones, 62 of Marietta, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at 4:55 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his residence. He was born on October 3, 1962 in Canton, a son of John F. and Alice G. (Roberson) Jones. He married Kandi Nolan on July 20, 1985 in Marrietta. She survives.


Also surviving are his daughters, Megan (Zack) Ford of Cuba; Carie (Tyler) Miller of Cuba; Kelly (Erik) Ford of Dallas City; seven grandchildren whom he loved and was so proud of, Keiton, Jaxon & Gracelynn Ford; Brant & Leighton Miller; Kolten & Vincent Ford, and Solana Ramirez; six brothers & three sisters, and also several nieces & nephews.


Preceding Boom in death were his parents, and brother, David S. Jones.


Boom worked as a welder most of his life, but he finished his working career at NTN Bowers in Macomb as a machine operator. Boom never knew a stranger. He would always be there to help anyone, if they needed it. He was a man of his word. He was also known as the life of the party & loved to joke around. Boom was one of kind. His greatest blessings were his grandchildren. His famous saying was “Our door is always open, make yourself at home”. Boom was of the Christian faith, and a true family man & his love for God was so big. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many others, but at the end of the day in his famous words, “If you can’t be good, be good at it”.


Per Boom’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Cuba American Legion.
