Donna Jean Fawcett

Donna Jean Fawcett, 79, of Havana, IL (formerly of Lincoln, IL) passed away at 2:14 a.m. on Friday, September 18th, 2026 at Mason District Hospital in Havana, IL. She was born on September 25th, 1946 to Roger and Laura Mae (Hoerr) Rowe in Pekin, IL. She married Dale Dean Fawcett on February 14th, 1999.

She is survived by her children, Phillip John (JoLynn) Marcum Sr. of Manito, IL, Todd (Meredith Dehner) Marcum of Bloomington, IL, Randall (Kimberly) Rinehart of Oswego, IL, and Crystal (Shane) Alley of Lincoln, IL. Her grandchildren, Jason (Janie) Philipp of Elsie, MI, Phillip J. (Trisha) Marcum Jr. of Mesa, AZ, LaDonna Marcum of KS, Kristian (Abigail) Sanders of Warren, IL, Taylor (Joe Wethington) Sanders of Lanark, IL, Natalyn Dehner-Marcum of Bloomington, IL, Lillian Dehner-Marcum of Bloomington, IL, Nathanial (Megan) Rinehart of Plano, IL, Christian Rinehart of Oswego, IL, Alexandria (Bryce) Mappin of Bristol, IL., Elizabeth (Timothy Collier) Rinehart of Yorkville, IL, Arielle Alley of London, UK, Adrienne (Christian) Sandel of Monticello, IL, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sister, Judy (Late David) Flairty of Hanna City, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Donna graduated from Forman High School in 1964. Most of her career was spent working for Lehn & Fink as a chemical worker. Donna took great pride in being a union steward for the United Chemical Workers Union 316. She served as an officer and safety delegate. Later, she started her own cleaning business in which she managed until she retired.

Her hobbies included jewelry making, ceramics, and being involved in activities with her church family. She was admired for her party planning and decorating. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours birdwatching, flower gardening, riding ATV’s through the countryside, and volunteering at the Nature Center. What she loved most was cooking and celebrating the holidays with family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Havana, IL followed by the memorial service. Graveside service will take place directly after at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana, IL. Pastor Mike Henson will officiate the service.

Jane Pschirrer

 

Jane Pschirrer, age 87, of Canton, peacefully transitioned from grace to glory on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Carle Proctor Hospital, following a six-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jane was born on June 12, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Vera (Roach) Grylls. She married R. David Pschirrer in 1995, he survives. She was preceded in death by her six siblings.

Jane spent her early years in Des Moines before relocating several times with her first husband, the late Harlan Crouch. In 1974, Jane and her family settled in Canton, where she would build a life deeply rooted in her faith, family, friendships, and service to her community.

Jane was a devout Christian whose life was guided by her faith and the teachings of Jesus. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She faithfully gave her time, talents, and service to her church for 50 years. Her commitment to serving others extended throughout the Canton community. She served as President of the YWCA board and President of the Graham Hospital Service League board. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapters J.Q. and I.U., as well as Lambda Chi Omega Sorority. In 1986 Jane was honored as a YWCA Salute to Woman of Achievement in recognition of her contributions to her community.

Jane's first job was at the Iowa State Fairgrounds across from her childhood home. Throughout her working life, Jane held positions at Yonkers, Canton Community Bank, and Women’s Crisis Center. Working for the Women's Crisis Center was not just a job for her, but a daily pursuit of making a better life for each woman she encountered.

Jane’s greatest joy was her family. With Harlan, she had three children: John (Cari) Crouch, the late Van (Renee Carl) Crouch, and Susan (Doug) Manock. She later married her late husband, Chris Patterson, and gained another daughter, Kara (Greg) Schwarzendruber. In 1995, Jane married her loving husband, David Pschirrer, and gained two more children, Bob (Suzie) Pschirrer and the late Jane (Oscar) Lopez.

Jane was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family dearly. She is survived by her grandchildren, Corie (Joe) Christian, Cody (Mandy) Manock, Gabrielle (Benjamin Ford) Manock, Olivia Manock, Haley (Ethan) Cashen, Lauren Pschirrer, Alexia Lopez, Abby Schwarzendruber, Melanie Van Maastricht, Alan Van Maastricht, and Adrianna Aguilar. Through them she was blessed with twelve great grandchildren: Andrew, Brady, Avery, Baylor, Logan, Emma, Isley, Lola, Lyza, Haidyn, Brixton and Crew. She is preceded in death by one grandson Rory Carl.

In her retirement years, Jane and her husband David, spent their winters in Punta Gorda, Florida, where she enjoyed doing Qigong along the Peace River, shopping with her friends, volunteering for different charitable organizations and attending Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.

Jane will be remembered for her deep and unwavering faith, love of family, generous spirit, dedication to her community, and distinctive sense of style. She touched many lives through her work, service, friendships, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will carry her memory with them.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with a visitation one hour prior at Sedgwick Funeral Home in Canton. At the conclusion of the services lunch will be provided at Wesley Fellowship Hall.

Dennis James

Dennis Eugene James of Canton died peacefully at his home on September 18, 2026, after a nearly 20-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Dennis was born January 23, 1951 to Herschel “Firp” James and Susie (Hammond) James of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is Dennis’s beloved wife Angela (O’Brien) James of 45 years; son Kyle, daughter-in-law Katie (Edwards) James of Dunlap, IL; and two grandsons, Micah and Noah.

Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Abingdon High School and 1973 graduate of Western Illinois University. He worked in sales for multiple area food distributors, such as Hawkeye Foodservice, Rogers Brothers, and Kohl Wholesale; and was beloved by customers for his honesty, wit, and responsiveness.

Dennis was a devoted son, husband, father, and “papa,” who loved and cared deeply for his family. He was a very humble man who always put the needs of his family and friends ahead of his own and will be most remembered for the time he spent caring for others. He was always up for watching a ballgame, going out to dinner with friends, and most of all discussing, watching, or playing golf. He played countless rounds with family and friends at Lake Bracken Country Club and Bunker Links Golf Club in Galesburg where he was a member for a number of years. When mobility became a challenge, you could still find him on the driving range working on his swing. Dennis was a ember od St Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton and the Knights of Columbus at the church.

Most recently, Dennis will be remembered in Canton for the patriotism he showed as the steadfast gentleman on N. Main Street dressed in red, white, and blue waving his American flag on national holidays.

A memorial visitation will be held at Oaks Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 9am until 10:30 am. A funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton at 11 am. A burial of his ashes will be held at Abingdon Cemetery on Saturday at 10 am.

Memorials may be made out to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Food Pantry or the Molly K. O’Brien Scholarship Fund at Spoon River College.

Lynn Utsinger

Lynn Utsinger, 81, of Canton, passed away, Friday, September 18, 2026, at Richard L Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born in Canton, on August 19, 1945, to Howard and Lucielle (Howerter) Utsinger. They preceded him in death as well as his twin brother, Lyle Utsinger, and sister, Jean Cattron.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (O’Bryant) Utsinger. They were married on July 31,1965.

Also surviving is his son, Bill (Rachel) Utsinger of Canton, brother, Blaine (Wilda) Utsinger of Galesburg, and sister, Donna Williams of Bushnell.

Lynn retired from Caterpillar in Mossville; he worked for 45 years before his retired in 2008.

Outside of taking care of his family, Lynn enjoyed farming with his brother.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A graveside service will be held at Wiley Cemetery at a later date.

Jack Purtle

Jack Purtle, 69, of Canton, passed away on September 19, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on December 6, 1956 in Canton to James and Laura (Breese) Purtle.

Surviving are his brothers, Bill and Joe Purtle of Canton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jim, John, Terry, Donald and Oscar.

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Lee Marshall

Lee (Leland) Marshall of Palm Desert, CA passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Lee was born on December 2, 1929 in Macomb, Illinois. He was the son of Deane and Ruth (Graham) Marshall. After graduating from Ipava High School he attended Monmouth College, graduating in 1951. In 1953 Lee married Norma Power of Clayton, Illinois.

He is survived by nieces Jamie Hare, Kim Mareth, Jodi Hare-Paynter, Cindy Roe, Janet Horvath, nephews Steve Simpson and Guy Power and many grand nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife Norma, his parents, sister Ruthe Hare, niece Pam Smith, grand-nephew Samuel Stone and grand-niece Nora Jagodzinski.

After graduating from college in 1951, Lee was inducted into the United States Army, commissioned a 2nd Lt., and was attached to a training command at Camp Atterbury, IN. He was discharged in 1953. In 1957 he and Norma moved to California where he accepted a position with an aerospace company as Quality Assurance Director. He later held positions as Vice-President of Programs and Vice-President on International marketing. He retired in 2000.

Lee became an avid golfer at Ironwood Country Club, enjoying many rounds with his many friends during his 43 years of membership. Over the years he served on Ironwood’s board as well as several committees.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 5th at 10:00 am at the Ipava Cemetery. Pastor Don Long, Jr. will officiate. Military services will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Ipava American Legion. Masonic services will be provided by the Ipava Masonic Lodge. Memorials in Lee’s memory may be given to your preferred charity. Shawgo Memorial Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jason C. Rockhold

Jason Charles Rockhold 45, passed away at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on September 17, 2026. He was born on June 23, 1981 in Canton, IL to Robert Rockhold and Toni (Rushford) Rockhold.

Jason was a 1999 graduate of Canton High School. He then attended and played baseball for Lincoln College and St. Ambrose University. He married Rachael Ossman in 2006 and together they had two daughters, Emma Rose Rockhold and Addison Dee Rockhold.

Jason later met who he called his “soulmate” Brittany. They were married on February 6, 2026. Well before they were married, he became a bonus dad to her children, Ainsley, Mason, and Quinn Hemmele.

Jason spent much of his life coaching on a softball field, giving hitting lessons, watching sports, and watching his daughters Emma and Addi show their horses. He was a beloved coach to hundreds of talented athletes across central Illinois. He had a big heart and sense of humor. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. If he couldn’t come to an event in basketball shorts and a hoodie, he probably wouldn’t come at all. Even then, he would be late and on “Jason time” as his family called it. He loved his family dearly. Nothing brought him more joy than being a dad.

He is survived by his wife, Brittany Rockhold; his children, Emma Rockhold, Addison Rockhold, Ainsley Hemmele, Mason Hemmele, and Quinn Hemmele; his parents, Robert and Toni Rockhold; his brother, Nicholas Rockhold; his nephew, Rylynn Rockhold; and uncle, Chuck (Jane) Rushford; an aunt, Vinnie Cufaude; his father and mother – in – law, Charles and Michelle Johnson; and several loving cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Shirley Rockhold, Irwin “Doc” Rushford, Rose Rushford; and his uncle, Dan Caufaude.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL A visitation will be held the same day from 5pm - 7pm at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Mason and his daughter will be speaking at his service.  It would be an honor to Jason if you dressed casual and comfortable.

Richard J. “Rick” Batterton

Richard J. “Rick” Batterton, 75, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 8 am on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at his home. He was born on January 16, 1951 in Canton, IL, the son of Junior and Mae (Hamm) Batterton. Rick married Phyllis Shanks on June 2, 1973 in Astoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his three children, James (and Stephanie) Grossnickle-Batterton of Lititz, PA, Andy (and Virginia Bolt) Batterton of Summum, IL and Molly (and Dustin) Curless of Astoria, IL, eight-grandchildren; Kenny (and Morgan Dunbar), Justice, Koda, Dawson, Kobe, Haley, Elias and Reid, two great-grandchildren; Parker and Emerson, and one brother Bill (and Mona) Batterton of Astoria.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Rick worked at Astoria Fiber Steel and then worked at L & N Industries as a welder for over 40 years. He also was a farmer.

He was a former member of the Summum Fire Department and the Astoria Saddle Club. Rick loved horses and enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Ricks’s son Jim Grossnickle-Batterton will officiate. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to MDH Hospice or the Astoria Fire & Rescue Department.

Darlene Yarbrough

Marian “Darlene” Yarbrough 85 of Canton, IL, died at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was raised in Canton, IL. to Robert and Catherine Swanson. She first married James Owens, and later married Melvin Yarbrough. They preceded her in death.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her step-children, Larry Owens and Wanda Majors, and one brother Robert Thompson.

She is survived by her grandchildren Kathie (Janell Estes) Owens, James (Melanie) Owens, Dan (Mackenzie) Majors, and Karen (Ralph) Sedgwick; and great-grandchildren Brayden, Jaina, Kutai, Grace, Josh, Lena, Trinity, Jack, Tony, Alexis, and Gracie.

Darlene worked as a secretary for Mohammed Shriner’s and later worked for Fayette Companies / HSC.

A funeral service will be held at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL on Monday, September 21 at 6:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior at 5pm. Cremation will be entrusted with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory following services. Rev. Curtis Atchley will officiate. Alison Rose Wolf

Alison Rose (Valencia) Wolf, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion to family. Born on November 20th, 1947, in Canton, Illinois, Alison was the beloved daughter of the late Anton (Tony) and Olga Valencia.  

Growing up, she treasured time with her brother Jay (Susan) Valencia, as well as many close-knit cousins. After graduating from Canton High School in 1966, she attended nursing school at Lutheran Hospital School for Nurses, where her compassion and gift for caring for others were evident.

On July 6th, 1968, Alison married the love of her life, Warren (Warrenie) Wolf, with whom she built a life on the firm foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Bryan (Deana) Wolf of Mount Vernon, Ohio; Sarah (Robert) Stewart of Yorkville, Illinois; and Matthew (Sarah) Wolf of Springfield, Missouri. As a family, they enjoyed life on the farm, water skiing during summer vacations at the lake, and preparing 4-H projects for the Fulton County Fair, where, fittingly, Alison had first met Warrenie in 1966.

She was the proud grandmother of Hannah (Gonzalo) Torres, Kristine (Stephan) Stewart Willard, Molly Wolf, Karoline Stewart, Samuel Wolf, Lilly (Wyatt) Wagner, Keith Stewart, Sophia Wolf, and Annalia Wolf, as well as great-grandmother to Hazel, Margot, and two babies due in February. Alison loved the nonstop chatter, laughter, and games that filled every “Wolf Cousins” gathering, and her presence at the table will be one of the family’s greatest losses.

In her retirement—though a farm wife never truly retires—she and Warrenie enjoyed traveling, sharing dinner with friends, and keeping tabs on her grandchildren. She was involved in Altruistic Club of Canton and Chapter LY P.E.O. and assisted with teaching Sunday School for more than 50 years. She had a lifelong love of planning trips for her family and cooking for her loved ones, and she will be forever known for her chicken and noodles and Christmas caramels. Yet her greatest contribution and first loves were always her children: a pastor, a farmer, and an artist.

A celebration of Alison’s life will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton, Illinois, with her son, Bryan Wolf, officiating. The family invites everyone to join them for dinner and fellowship in the church’s Fellowship Hall following the service, as sharing a meal with loved ones was one of Alison’s most treasured joys.

Kent Beckner

Kent Beckner, 82, of Canton passed away, Sunday, September 13, 2026, at his home in Canton.

He was born in Canton, on June 29, 1944, to Carl K. Sr. and Luella (Melvin) Beckner. They preceded him in death, as well as two brothers, Carl K. Beckner Jr. and Bob Beckner, and a sister, Colleen Lacey.

Kent is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vickie (Peterson) Beckner. They were married on November 11, 1972.

Also surviving are three sons, Ted (Erin) Shubert, Tom (Rona) Shubert, and Chuck (Trisha) Shubert, brother, Ronnie (the late Violet) Melvin, nine grandchildren, Josh (Vanessa Smith) Shubert, Trevor (Hannah) Shubert, Tanner (Alanna) Shubert, Taylor (Kiara Harris) Shubert, Zach (Caytlyn) Shubert, Sydney (Lane) Short, Saydey Shubert, and Nick Shubert, eight great grandchildren, Owen, Averie, Kayleigh, J.T., Adelina, Theodore, Lorenzo, and Briar, and four nieces Michelle, Judy, Lynn, and Nicole.

Kent graduated from Canton high School and then Joined the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Buckheart Coal Mines, and later retired from the City of Canton. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, camping, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed everything Elvis, and tinkering around his garage.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral home and Crematory in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial with Military Honor's will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Fulton County, or to Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

Larry Lundry

Larry D. Lundry, 61, who most knew as “Bat”, passed away on Friday September 11, 2026 at his residence in Canton.

He was born on November 14, 1964 in Canton to Earl and Frances (Stover) Lundry. They preceded him in death.

He had two brothers, Gary Lundry, Terry Lundry and one sister, Lynette Lundry.

Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1982 until 1988 serving as a Cavalry Scout. He later entered the U.S. Army Reserves and was Honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent. He later worked as an over the road truck driver and lastly at the YMCA in Canton. Larry was an avid musician and gave guitar lessons.

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton.

A burial of his ashes, with military honors, will take place at a later date along with a celebration of life.

Larry L. Edwards

Larry L. Edwards, 88, of Canton, passed away on September 14, 2026 at his residence. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Chandlerville, Illinois to Harry and Gladys (Dearing) Edwards. Larry married Patricia Widger on June 28, 1959 in Canton. She preceded him in death on March 24, 1998. Also preceding in death were his parents, two brothers; Bill and Byron and sister Carolyn (late Bob) Runyon.

Surviving are two children; Robert L. (Lisa) Edwards of Mt. Pulaski, IL and Teresa L. (Charles) Osborne of Canton, brother Donnie (Sundra) Edwards of Florida, four grandchildren; Molly (Sarah) Edwards, Mikayla (Enrique) Osborne, Lacey Edwards and John Osborne.

Larry later married Carolyn Maricle on June 1, 2002 in Canton. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2026. Surviving are her children Chad (Jane) Phillips of Bloomington, Staci (Tim) Seward of Canton and step-grandchildren Brenen, Katrina and Isabelle.

Larry worked at Caterpillar as a receiving clerk for 35 plus years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of First Christian Church in Canton and belonged to the bowling association. Larry was a veteran serving as a Sergeant in the Army. He enjoyed being outside, going to car shows, gardening and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, playing skip-bo, camping and completing puzzles. Larry was blessed with great friends who enjoyed playing cards and camping over the years. He had fond memories of our annual turkey cookouts and luncheons with friends.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
