He was born on July 21, 1954 in Canton to Victor and Barbara (Meece) Mason. They preceded him in death.
Surviving is his companion of 26 years, Dean Hofman and Richard’s sister, Sue (Keith) Freiley of Canton.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lu Probyn.
Richard worked in the Pharmacy Benefits field for several insurance companies retiring in 2018 from Express Scripts. He enjoyed doing advanced cross word puzzles and making latch hook rugs. He was an accomplished pianist and traveled with Dean throughout the world.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11 am, at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. There will be no visitation.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
