Pat is survived by his brother, Jeffrey (Jane) Pollitt of Peoria; nephews, Shaun (Megan) Pollitt of Elburn, IL, Nicholas Pollitt of Lafayette, IN, Eric (Teresa) Pollitt of Peoria, and Laura (Michael) Pollitt-Crosson of Peoria; paternal cousins David (the late Eva) Pollitt of Reno, NV, Kevin (Susan) Pollitt of Canton, Greg (Teresa) Pollitt of Hendersonville, NC, and Maureen (John) Nation of Macomb; maternal cousins Barbara (Lester) Ramsey of Basco, IL, Nancy (Myron) Baughman-Post of Missouri, and Chris (Molly) Rider of Algonquin, IL; and paternal aunts Judith “Judy” Oliver of Silverdale, WA, and Marilyn Henderson of Canton.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; life partner Patricia “Pat” Campbell; paternal uncles, William Pollitt, Wallace "Wally" Pollitt, Arthur Pollitt, and Robert Pollitt; paternal aunts Melba Kumer, Peggy McWhorter, Penelope “Penny” Wolfe, and Betty Bayless, all of Canton; maternal aunts Ruby (Munson) Rider-Aubuchon, and Charlotte (Munson) Baughman; cousins Lu Ann (Rider) Jones, and Steve Rider; and his beagles Alvin and Webster, and labradors Willy, Wally, and Casey.
Pat had 31 first cousins and was on the Canton High School cross country and wresting teams, and graduated in 1971.
From an early childhood Pat was a military enthusiast. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and performed reenactments of US Revolutionary and Civil Wars.
He served in the Illinois National Guard where he was awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the Army in 1984, and the Army Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service in 1987. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1989.
Pat earned his Apprenticeship as a Cement Mason in 1978 and retired from the Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ International Association (OPCMIA) with over 30 consecutive years of service in 2015.
He was a frontiersman who enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and shooting Muzzleloaders and Colt M1911 pistols, and spending time with his pets, friends, and family.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will start at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton where lunch will be served.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
