Genevieve I. Slater

Genevieve I. Slater, 96, of Bryant, passed away on April 25, 2026 at her residence. She was born on June 14, 1929 in Canton to Charles Edward and Marie (Murphy) Rilea Sr. Genevieve first married Oscar LaVern Estes and later married Merlin W. Slater. They both preceded her in death along with her parents, seven brothers; Richard, Carroll, Gerald, Jack, Donald, Kenny and Charles Jr, and one sister Rose Bohannan.

Surviving are three daughters; Saundra Kaye (John Snater) Fontana of Sarasota, FL, Vicky (late Marc) Hess of Bryant and Cindy (Ray) Slaubaugh of Bloomington, one sister Linda Murphy of Cuba, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Genevieve worked at the Canton Overall Factory, Graham Hospital and the Maid-Rite for many years. She was formerly a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge.

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to Buckheart Township Rescue Squad. To leave online condolences please visit oakshinesfuneralhome.com
