He was born on March 31, 1940 in Canton to Winey and Louise (Snell) Canevit.
He married his wife of 66 years, Shirley Shoop on October 11, 1959 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Kent (Kelli) Canevit of Canton, Debbie (Tim) Johnson of Schuyler Falls, N.Y., sisters, Mary (Larry) Lindsey of Canton, Cathy Yocum of TN, grandchildren, Brandon (Meg) Johnson, Vanessa (Clay) Smalley, Michael (Bonnie) Johnson, Keena (Darrin) Roberts, Keaton (Meaghan) Canevit, great grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin, Leo, Barrett and Maisie and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, George, Ed, Donnie and Bill Canevit and sisters, Dorothy Denney and Erma Burkhead.
Bob worked for international Harvester in Canton and later retired from Navistar in Ohio in 1999. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Gear Jammers car club, the Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Moose Lodge.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows to show his 1965 Mustang. Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all Bob was a devoted family man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11 am with a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial of his ashes will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
