She was born on July 16, 1927, in Smithfield Illinois, to Earl and Mary (Emery) Watson. She married Harold Lee Chenoweth on May 30, 1945 in Keokuk Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Mary Ellen Hukill, Husband and brother Richard Watson.
Surviving is one son, Dennis (Chris) Chenoweth of Bloomington, two grandchildren, Kevin (Jean) Hukill of Canton, and Keith (Kasie) Chenoweth of Minier, two step grandchildren, Molly (Marc) Malinowski of Orland Park and Sean (Amanda) Goben of Downs, two great granddaughters, Khloe and Kylie Chenoweth of Minier and four step great grandchildren, Benjamin and Amelia Malinowski of Orland Park and Zoey and Cameron Goben of Downs.
Dorothy was a long-standing member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She had been a previous member of the Sweet Adelines, Canton Women’s Club and the Fulton County Democrats.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. It was a long standing tradition to celebrate birthdays with home churned ice cream and cake. Many family vacations were spent boating and fishing in Wisconsin and Minnesota as well as traveling out west in Colorado mountains.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at White Chapel memory Gardens in Canton.
