James E. Trone Jr.

James E. Trone Jr. 78, of Canton, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his home in Canton surrounded by his family. He was born in Rushville, Illinois, to James E. Trone Sr. and Carol V. (Brown) Trone. They preceded him in death as well as a grandchild, James Wayne Trone.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon (Markley) Trone on January 17, 1969.

Also surviving is his son Randall (Cherie) Trone of Indiana, Brother, Michael (Nancy) Trone, two sisters, Sue (Roger) Lasswell, and Debby (Ron) Hedden, four grandchildren, Rebekka (Matthew) Keefauver, Bryan Trone, Logan Trone, and Julia Trone, and two great grandchildren, Ava and Jordy Keefauver.

Jr is a Veteran of the United States Army. He served from 1966 until 1968 in the Vietnam War.

He retired from Caterpillar in Mapleton and in retirement he enjoyed working at Wagner Farm. He was a member of the Cuba American Legion, and enjoyed Friday night bowling at Linn Lanes. Jr liked to take fishing trips to Minnesota, and most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service with military honors will be held at Fiatt Cemetery in Fiatt on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Cuba American Legion.
