He was a graduate of Manual High School, Class of 1973.Bob worked many years at S&S Builders Hardware and was an extremely hardworking man. He enjoyed spending his time in the gym lifting weights, flying model planes and participating in wrist wrestling competitions. Bob was recognized as a two-time world wrist-wrestling champion around 1980-1981. He competed in the prestigious Yukon Jack Arm Wrestling Championship, placing in top tier matchups. He was well known for his signature moves and was undeniably strong. Bob could be described as powerful, yet quiet. He showed that with his numerous bench press and power lifting championships. Bob used to say: “It’s not just strength, it’s in your head; If you are up against a guy who is twice as big as you and he’s growling, you’ve got to growl right back”. Not to be overlooked or forgotten was his sense of humor. Bob always made sure to tell jokes to make you laugh. He kept a smile on the faces of many through laughter. The world is a little less bright without Bob here with us, but we always say: It’s not a goodbye, but a see you later”. We know there was a beautiful gym there in heaven getting put to good use when he arrived. A private cremation has been entrusted to the Oaks-Hines Funeral home in Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America in his honor.
