Richard C. Eberley

Richard C. Eberley, 89, of Trivoli, passed away at 1:10 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on April 30, 1936 in Peoria, IL, to Charles and Velma (Feinholz) Eberley. He married Martha Miller on October 13, 1957. She survives.


He is also survived by his three children, David (Brenda) Eberley Sr., Martin “Drew” (Bunnie) Eberley, and Aleta (John) “Jamie” Litwiller; five grandchildren, David (Taylor) Eberley Jr., Maggie (Steve) Black, Marcy (Jarrod) Roberts, Lexie (Zach) Davis, Annemarie Litwiller; six great-grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Denver, Whitley, Layla, and Zade’ and several nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Norma Jean Sipfle.


Richard was a heavy equipment operator for Local 649. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1954. He enjoyed farming, square dancing, and playing cards.


Richard was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Greenland during the Korean war.


Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM -1:30 PM same day at the funeral home. Pastor Jason Gilmore will officiate. Burial will follow service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Eden, IL. James E. Trone Jr.

James E. Trone Jr. 78, of Canton, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his home in Canton surrounded by his family. He was born in Rushville, Illinois, to James E. Trone Sr. and Carol V. (Brown) Trone. They preceded him in death as well as a grandchild, James Wayne Trone.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon (Markley) Trone on January 17, 1969.

Also surviving is his son Randall (Cherie) Trone of Indiana, Brother, Michael (Nancy) Trone, two sisters, Sue (Roger) Lasswell, and Debby (Ron) Hedden, four grandchildren, Rebekka (Matthew) Keefauver, Bryan Trone, Logan Trone, and Julia Trone, and two great grandchildren, Ava and Jordy Keefauver.

Jr is a Veteran of the United States Army. He served from 1966 until 1968 in the Vietnam War.

He retired from Caterpillar in Mapleton and in retirement he enjoyed working at Wagner Farm. He was a member of the Cuba American Legion, and enjoyed Friday night bowling at Linn Lanes. Jr liked to take fishing trips to Minnesota, and most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service with military honors will be held at Fiatt Cemetery in Fiatt on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Cuba American Legion.

Robert “Bob” Kuhn

Robert L. “Bob” Kuhn, 70, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Sunset Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Canton, IL. He was born on March 22, 1955, to Herman Kuhn and Lois (Pernow) Kuhn in Peoria, IL. He is survived by his three children, Jason (Erin) Kuhn of Bartonville IL, Jeremy Kuhn of East Peoria IL, and Courtney Kuhn of Washington IL; Eight grandchildren, Tyler, Gabrielle, Connor, Grace, Kyleigh, Khloe, Kyle and Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Patricia K Bishop; and his former spouse Tracy Kramer Troxell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

He was a graduate of Manual High School, Class of 1973.Bob worked many years at S&S Builders Hardware and was an extremely hardworking man. He enjoyed spending his time in the gym lifting weights, flying model planes and participating in wrist wrestling competitions. Bob was recognized as a two-time world wrist-wrestling champion around 1980-1981. He competed in the prestigious Yukon Jack Arm Wrestling Championship, placing in top tier matchups. He was well known for his signature moves and was undeniably strong. Bob could be described as powerful, yet quiet. He showed that with his numerous bench press and power lifting championships. Bob used to say: “It’s not just strength, it’s in your head; If you are up against a guy who is twice as big as you and he’s growling, you’ve got to growl right back”. Not to be overlooked or forgotten was his sense of humor. Bob always made sure to tell jokes to make you laugh. He kept a smile on the faces of many through laughter. The world is a little less bright without Bob here with us, but we always say: It’s not a goodbye, but a see you later”. We know there was a beautiful gym there in heaven getting put to good use when he arrived. A private cremation has been entrusted to the Oaks-Hines Funeral home in Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America in his honor.

James Reid

James Reid, 85, of Canton, passed away, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his home in Canton.

He was born in Canton, on March 9, 1940, to Dewey and Audrey (Winner) Reid.

He married Edna (Ryan) Reid on June 4, 1971. They shared 29 years of marriage before she passed away on September 16, 2000.

Jim is survived by two children, Kathy Lock, and Larry Cook, three grandchildren, Larry (the late Sarah) Cook, Tammy (Lance) Tindall, and Jeff Lock, 16 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is also preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, Robert, Bernard, and Daryl, and grandson Greg Lawver.

Jim served in the United States Air Force from July of 1958, until March of 1962, he later served for the Air National Guard from August of 1963, until his retirement in September of 1995. He was a former member of the Canton Moose Lodge, and enjoyed to travel, read and most of all spend time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation held one hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors will be held immediately following the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Area Honor Flight, or to the Spoon River College Foundation.

Patricia “Pat” J. Krause

Patricia “Pat” J. Krause, 95, of Hanna City, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2025 at Farmington Village in Farmington.

She was born on September 2, 1930 in Peoria to Ralph and Lena (Slater) Cook.

She married Eugene Krause on December 31, 1958. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1981.

Surviving is one son, Kyle (Stacey) Krause of Elmwood, two daughters, Reba (J.D.) Diviney of Trivoli, Beth (Jeff) Adair of Morton, daughter-in-law, Sharon Bumgarner, four grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Sloan, whom she raised, April (Chad) Estes, Tammi Adair, Cody Krause, two great grandchildren, Dylan and Dani and her beloved dog, Olive.

Also preceding her in death is one son Kelly Bumgarner, one daughter, Carol Sue and one brother, Berlyn Cook.

Pat worked for Broderick and Baskum in Bartonville for 20 years and later retired from Butternut Bakery. After her retirement she enjoyed spending her winters in Texas.

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral and Crematory in Canton. There will be no services.

Carol J. Miller

Carol Jean Miller, 88, of Canton, formerly of Ipava, passed away at 1:42am on Monday, February 23 in the ICU at Graham Hospital in Canton.


She was born January 24, 1938 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL to Lena (Smart) and Charles Sosey. She married Robert Gene Miller on May 12, 1957 in Cuba, IL. He preceded her in death March 22, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Sosey.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dave) Berry, of Cuba; two grandsons Kurt (Sarah) Palm of Stafford, VA and Kory (Tabitha) Palm of Bushnell; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Connor and Kaden; one sister-in-law Carol (Larry) Wilson of Atascadero, CA and one bother-in-law, Eldon Miller of Cuba and several nieces and nephews.

Carol attended Cuba High School, graduating in 1956. She enjoyed the neighborhood card club, knitting, traveling and most of all spending time with her family. She also was a member of the signing group “The Melodears” recording a record in 1960. She was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield. She also collected glass shoes.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, February 27, 2026 in the Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield, IL. Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Ipava American Legion.

Earl W. “Buzzy” Bender

Earl W. “Buzzy” Bender, 70, of Canton, passed away, Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Graham hospital in Canton. He was born on June 17, 1955, in Victoria Texas, to Earl W. and Sue (DelRio) Bender.

He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Bender, and wife Sandy Bender.

Buzzy is survived by his Mother Sue Bender, son Jeremy Bender, two brothers, Dode (Julie) Bender of Tennessee, and Toby Bender of Missouri, two sisters, Missy (Ed) Davis, and Mendy (Doug) Kepler of Arizona, three grandchildren, Ethan, Alyssa and Avery, one great grandchild, Brinley, several nieces and nephews, his faithful dog, Mouse, and the mother of his son, Diane McKinney.

Buzzy enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. a graveside service will immediately follow at White Chapel memory Gardens in Canton.

Phyllis M. Brock

Phyllis Myrle Brock, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on February 15, 2026. She was born on July 19, 1938, at St. Francis Hospital in Macomb, Illinois, to Phillip and Mary Katherine Howell. She grew up on a farm in Ipava, Illinois, where she learned the value of hard work, faith, and family. She often shared stories of farm life with her children and grandchildren, keeping those early memories alive for generations.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Brock, who passed away in February 2016. Their marriage reflected devotion, steadiness, and enduring love. After retirement, Phyllis and Larry made their home in Meridian, Mississippi, where they enjoyed meeting new friends through their church family and cherished traveling to visit loved ones in this new season of life. Phyllis was a devoted mother to her children: Kathy Flynn (Mark), Angela Schaffer (Tim), Todd Brock, and Phyllis Harper (Dennis). Her greatest joy was her growing family, and she was a proud and loving grandmother to Stephanie Meyer (Stephen), Alexandra James (Steven), Parker Brock (Claire), Brittney Chaney (Brock), and Chasity McGraw (Jason). She was especially proud of her great-grandchildren: Christian, Gwennyth, and Benjamin Meyer; Audrey and Emerson James; Turner Brock; Hattie, John Brock, and Henry Chaney; and Lake, Lowry, and Mary Lawrence McGraw. She treasured watching them grow and found great happiness in attending their sports, activities, and performances, always cheering them on with quiet pride.

She also loved gathering around the table for card and board games, where laughter and friendly competition were always welcome. Many treasured family memories were made in those simple moments together. She had a soft heart for her pets and cared for them as part of the family.

She is also survived by her sisters, Theresa Keefauver (Rodney), Michelle Wherley (Denney), and Charlotte Reynolds (Ron), along with a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She shared a close bond with her sister-in-law and best friend, Jan Brock. Their friendship was marked by loyalty, laughter, and years of shared memories.

Phyllis was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, Mississippi. Her trust in the Lord guided her throughout her life. She was also a devoted Duke Basketball fan who loved cheering on her Blue Devils. Watching a game was one of her simple pleasures.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, strength, and quiet perseverance. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, Mississippi, or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Services for Mrs. Phyllis Brock will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Meridian with Pastor Bo Kyle officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the church. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Ipava Cemetery in Ipava, IL, which will be conducted by Shawgo Memorial Home. Edith N. Coleman

Edith N. Coleman, 91, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 28, 1934 in rural Astoria, IL to Fred William Plate and Grace (Adkison) Plate. Edith married James Richard “J.R.” Coleman on January 11, 1957 in Lewistown, IL.


Edith is survived by her children, Nyle (Vickie) Coleman of Canton, IL, Mardell (Shane) Donelson of Arkansas, Mark (Jacqulyn) Cobb of Moline, IL, her beloved grandchildren, Addison Donelson and Ellany Donelson, also of Arkansas, one brother, Keith Plate of Havana, IL, two sisters, Joyce Sarff of Kewanee, IL, Sheryl Trone of Peoria, IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred William and Grace Plate, her husband, James Richard “J.R.” Coleman, her son, Shawn Coleman, her sister, Ilene Davison, her brother, Lee Plate, and her nephew, Kurtis Plate.

Edith, or as everyone called her, Edie, was most proud of her educational achievements. After graduating Astoria High School in 1951, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education from Western Illinois University. Before her retirement, she taught elementary school, specifically third grade, for 44 years, with 30 of those years being at Porta Elementary School in Petersburg, IL. Edie loved her students and made learning a hands on and fun experience, often bringing nature into the classroom. She was nominated many times in the “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”, a publication that recognized outstanding educators as nominated by former students. In addition to her educational degrees, Edie was also a licensed funeral home director.

Edie was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed antiquing, thrifting and studying genealogy. She was an avid reader and gardener. She truly enjoyed helping others. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with the people she loved the most.

Edie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, a loyal friend and a beloved teacher. She touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her kind spirit, selflessness, warmth and generosity will be remembered forever. Edie leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and compassion that will live on in all of us.

A visitation will be held for Edith on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will follow
at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, IL. Pastor Mike Henson will officiate. Memorials may be made to the National Autism Association.

Marc D. Beard

Marc D. Beard, 78, passed away at High Point Residence in Carlinville, IL, on Friday, February 20, 2026, with his sister and brother by his side.

Marc was born at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL on August 23, 1947, to Robert and Dorothy (Lee) Beard. He grew up in Havana, IL and graduated from high school there in 1965. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 29 years, beginning his career in Springfield, IL and ending it in Bloomington, IL. In 2020, he made the decision to move to Carlinville to be closer to family.
Marc was a person with a wide variety of interests, one being the Old West. As a member of the Old West Society, he traveled throughout the western states learning more about the lawmen, outlaws, and rustlers of that time period. Another avid interest was professional wrestling and boxing, which led him to attend a number of important matches over the years in Las Vegas. Marc loved music and had a huge collection of CDs, most of which were of well- known Rock and Roll performers. He also enjoyed watching college basketball, as well as professional baseball and football games.
He is survived by his sister, Chris Powell, of Carlinville, brother, Rex (Gail) Beard of Decatur, IL., niece, Bond (Drew) Wyman, nephew, Ryan (Sheila Magill) Beard, great-nephews, Xander Wyman, Asher Wyman, Robert Magill-Beard, and great-niece, Aria Wyman, along with beloved cousins.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, grandparents, Henry and Jessie Lee, brother-in-law, John Powell, niece, Brooke Powell, and cousins, Steve Adams and Sid Van Etten.
Services will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, in Havana at Hurley’s Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon with the service starting at 1:00. Rex Beard will be officiating. Following the service, burial will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Verna Lee VinCamp

Verna Lee VinCamp, 89, of Midland, Michigan, formerly of Canton, passed away at 2:38 AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at her residence. She was born on August 26, 1936 in Canton, a daughter of Raymond and Maude (Robertson) Leighton. She married Richard Allen VinCamp on January 16, 1955 in Canton. He preceded her in death.


Also, preceding her in death were her parents, son, Craig Allen VinCamp; brother, Raymond Leighton Jr. and sister, Marilynn Herring.


Surviving is her son, Scott William (Lisa) VinCamp of Midland, Michigan; grandson, Ryan VinCamp of Midland, Michigan, and sister, Lois Leighton of Ocala, Florida.


Verna loved taking care of her family as a devoted homemaker. She also loved having her hands in the dirt, tending to her flowers and garden. In her free time, she enjoyed garage sales and antiquing, what she fondly called treasure hunting. She was a past member of the South Park United Methodist Church in Canton.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Rev Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will follow the services, and take place in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
