Joseph A. Wilson

Cuba – Joseph “Joe” A. Wilson, 63, of rural Cuba passed away Thursday January 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.


He was born January 29, 1960 at Canton the son of Thomas J. and Virginia L. (Lafary) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are two children, Cody Wilson of Canton, and Katie (Justin) King of Galesburg, two granddaughters, Rylee Wilson, and Oaklie King, one brother, Ed Wilson of Delevan, one sister, Cindy (Jerry) Buchen of Cuba, and his loving dog Dozer.


Joe was a farmer and worked for Thermogas. He then joined the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy and was their D.A.R.E. Officer retiring after 22 years. He worked at the Ipava State Bank for a while after retirement from the Sheriff’s Office. Joe had attended the Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield. He was a member of the Spoon River Valley FOP Lodge 427. Joe loved working on his trucks, tractor pulling, and attending his children’s sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.


Joe’s funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday January 31st at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery at Smithfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 30th from 5-7 PM at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude or Fulton County Humane Society.
