Charles R. Anderson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Robert Alderson, 76, of Havana, IL. Chuck passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, December 25, 2023. Chuck was a mentor, storyteller and pillar to his paramedic community and family. He was born October 26, 1947 in Elmhurst, IL. He married Chris (Bryant) Alderson on October 12, 1992 and she survives him.

Chuck is also survived by his daughter, Christina Alderson of Winfield, IL and his brother Arthur Alderson (Barbara) of Bentonville, AR. Also surviving are his extended family, Jeff Towery, James (Jodie) Martindale and Michelle Barnard all of Havana. He also had 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Norman Alderson and Helen Mae (Bowlby) Westman.
Chuck graduated from Havana High School in June of 1966. After graduation he moved to Aurora, IL and served on the local police department. He also served in Easton, IL as the Chief of Police. He eventually became an accomplished paramedic and was recognized by the State of Illinois for his skills and service. Chuck served as a paramedic at Mason District Hospital, and continued his EMS services at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. Chuck hired on at Advanced Medical Transport in Peoria, IL in 1993, where he continued to work for 25 plus years. He was recognized for over 50 years of service in EMS. Chuck’s early hobbies centered around cycling, as he worked at a bicycle shop, and toured around the state and the adjoining state of Iowa. He also enjoyed painting and collecting antiques.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Chuck at the First Baptist Church in Havana, IL on January 18, 2024. The visitation will be at 10:00 AM, services to follow at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the ceremony a graveside gathering will be held to remember a man whose kindness and leadership touched so many lives.
