Lewistown- Leonard R. Vaughn, 75, of Lewistown, passed away at 1:53 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1948 in Centralia, Illinois, a son of Alvin and Martha (Decker) Vaughn. He married Roberta Rowley on May 1, 1972 in Canton. She preceded her in death on October 1, 2006 in Canton.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Barb Schwartz.
Surviving is his fiance, Laura Howell; his children, Timothy (Vera) Vaughn of Paris; Robert (Dawn) Vaughn of Astoria; Jason (Brittany) Vaughn of Lewistown, Christine (Floyd) Deushane of Cuba; Misty Vaughn of Lewistown; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrel Vaughn of Creve Coeur, and David Vaughn of St. David.
Leonard worked and retired from Pschirrer Asphalt Company in Canton, as an operator, after many years of service. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #649 in Peoria. He served his country in the United States Army.
Per Leonard’s wishes, there will be no services, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Burial of ashes will take place in Apple Cemetery in rural Lewistown at a later date. Memorials can be made to Traditions Hospice.
