She was born April 24, 1946, to Clarence “Joe” and Vivian (LeViness) Sefried in Peoria, IL. JoEllen married Richard Geeseman on July 10, 1971, in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2023.
He is survived by one son, Corey (Ashley) Geeseman of Elmwood; one brother, Tim Sefried; one sister, Judi Thornton; and two grandchildren, Paige and Mason Geeseman.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Richard “Rick” H. Geeseman,
Jo Ellen went to college at Southern Illinois University where she received her Bachelor’s in Special Education. She worked for SEAPCO for over 30 years at multiple schools finishing her career at Elmwood School District #322. She was an avid golfer and was a Shady Lady at Maple Lane Country Club. Jo Ellen was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Food and fellowship will follow the service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield. A private burial of ashes will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in rural Brimfield at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield and B.Y.E. Ambulance.
