Richard D. Leezer

Richard D. Leezer, 89, of Cuba, passed away at 8:30 pm Wednesday January 11, 2023 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.


He was born February 27, 1933 at Bryant, the son of Wallace S. and Esther V. (Green) Leezer. He married Laura Caroline Joachim on November 20, 1954 at Rushville. She survives with four children, Carolyn Sue (Clayton) Apt of Peoria, Dennis D. Leezer of Canton, David Alan (Patsy) Leezer of St. Charles, MO; and Danny R. (Laura) Leezer of Macomb, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren, and an extra special friend, Gary Hensley. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.


Richard retired from Caterpillar after 37 years, and had also farmed for over 40 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533. He was a member of the Cuba Christian Church, and the Cuba Masonic Lodge 534 AF & AM. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing. His hobby was work.


A masonic service followed by his funeral service will be held at 12 noon Monday January 16, 2023 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Mike Arnett officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to services. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service and a private burial of ashes will take place at Cuba Cemetery with military rites conducted by Cuba American Legion Post.
