Kim E. Tanner

Kim E. Tanner, 56, of West Peoria, passed away at 7:42 p.m., on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born October 9, 1966, in Canton, to George and Mable (Shives) Tanner. He married Kathy Hill on July 29, 2000, in Peoria. She survives.

He is also survived by his parents; two step-children, Brian (Sarah) Burnett of Peoria Heights, and Joshua (Blake) Burnett of Morton; two brothers, Keith (Deb) Butterfield and Kurt (Sue) Butterfield; three grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, and Jonathan; four nieces and nephews, Angie, Rebecca, Nick, and Benjamin; ten great nieces and nephews; two dogs, Mojo and Max; and one kitten, Stewie.
Kim graduated high school from Spoon River Valley in 1985. While in high school, he enjoyed playing basketball and singing in the choir. He later went to Carl Sandburg and then to Eastern Illinois University where he graduated in 1990 with his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He was also an avid fisherman.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life with food and fellowship will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Yates City Community Center.
