Jean Phillips

Canton - LaVerta "Jean" Phillips, 95, of Canton, passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2023, at The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Canton. She was born on August 2, 1927, in Ray, Illinois, to William and Thelma (Trone) Morris. She married Walter "Miles" Phillips Jr. on November 29, 1947, in Rushville. He preceded her in death in 2014. Also preceding her in death are her parents, one daughter, Nancy Carrison, one sister, Maradel Donaldson, and one granddaughter, Angela Fulton. Surviving are seven children, Phyllis Fulton of Borger Texas, Jerry (Rose) Phillips of New Athens Illinois, Gary (Dianne) Phillips of Canton, Ron (Chris) Phillips of Lewistown, Linda (the late Tom) Reid of Canton, Lori Phillips of Canton, and Randy (Heather) Phillips of Canton, eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. Jean was a member of the Maples Mill United Methodist Church. She was a member of "Treat You Right" and enjoyed reading and puzzles. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Rushville Cemetery. Following the burial, a gathering will be held at the Schuyler Penney Event Venue, 207 West Washington Street, Rushville, Il 62681. Memorials may be made to Maples Mill United Methodist Church.
