He was born in Liverpool on October 12, 1923 to Orval and Mary Kathryn (Ringhouse) Whitehead.
He married Norma June Shuh in Canton on August 3, 1946. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2014.
Surviving are two sons James (Connie) Whitehead of Carlinville and Alan Whitehead (Lu Probyn) of Dunfermline, three grandchildren Lindsey Whitehead of Dunfermline, Karen Whitehead (Ryan Siegler) of Olathe, KS, and Andy (Pam) Whitehead of Orono, MN, and one sister Mary Ellyn (Ralph) Negley of Maples Mill.
He was a retired farmer of Liverpool Twp. He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, Volunteer of Buckheart Fire District and a former board member of Pritchard-Clark School.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 7 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held two hours prior.
Burial will be at Highbridge Cemetery in Dunfermline.
Memorials may be made to Buckheart Fire & Rescue.
