She was born on December 26, 1943, in Jerseyville, Illinois, to John and Mary (Darr) Cory. They preceded her in death as well as her brother Ronald Cory.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard “Dick’ Coay, they were married on October 6, 1962 in Jerseyville.
Also surviving are two children, Becky (Jay) Shepler of Canton, and Kevin (Gail) Coay of New Berlin, and three granddaughters, Marissa (Josh) Atwater – Simpson, Madisyn Coay, and Rachael Balder, and one great grandson Waylon.
Sharon also considered all of the kids she baby sat for over the years as her “bonus grandchildren”. She also enjoyed camping, and being involved in Beta Sigma Phi.
Sharon is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. She taught CCD for several years and also previously involved with the Food Pantry.
A rosary service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, visitation will follow at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be held immediately following the Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at the parish hall following the burial.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Food Pantry.
