Carole S. Sandman

Carole Sue (Taylor) Sandman, 83, of Canton died Monday, April 1, 2024, at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL.


Carole was born December 21, 1940 in Jacksonville, IL to Clyde L. and Louella E. (Bonds) Taylor. She married H. Glen Sandman on December 20, 1958 in Bluffs, IL. He died on January 29, 1997. Surviving are sons Tom (Susan) Sandman of Canton, IL and Dan (Gina) Sandman of Lewistown, IL; grandchildren John (Kellie) Sandman of Maryland Heights, MO, Joy Sandman of Anchorage, AK, and Molly Sandman of Springfield, IL; and great-grandson Judah Sandman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vicki House.


Carole worked in Beardstown for CIPS, then in Canton at Sandy’s restaurant, JC Penney, Associates in Dentistry, and MWRDGC-Prairie Plan, retiring in 1996. Carole worked to provide “extras” for her family and, most importantly, college educations for her sons. Carole was a 50+ year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton and active in the Fulton County chapter of the MS Society.


The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Red Oak Estates in Canton for the loving care they provided Carole for the past 15 years. The family is also grateful for the compassionate care given by the staff of Graham Hospital during Carole’s final illness.


Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with a funeral service at 6 p.m. A committal service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Neelyville, IL. Rev. Micah Garnett of Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton will officiate.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the National MS Society https://www.nationalmssociety.org/ or Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton.
