Surviving are three children; Brian (Jennifer) McMillan of McDonough, GA, Kevin (Lily) McMillan of Machesney Park, IL and Stacey (Ernie) Grisolano of Canton, one brother Leon Lewis of Fox Lake, IL, one sister Becky Lewis of Bible Grove, IL, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Melody retired from Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba and was a member of the Christian Church in Cuba.
If we lived 1000 different lives in every single one we’d choose you to be our Grandma because you were the best there was at being a grandma. She was the grandma who lived and breathed for her grandchildren, it didn’t matter what it was, if you needed her for whatever she was there. A grandma who’s cakes were top notch (if you didn’t have a mammy Mel cake for your birthday, well your cake was subpar). A grandma who wasn’t afraid to toss back a few margs with you. A grandma who wasn’t just your grandma, but came to be a grandma to all your friends as well. A grandma we got to see go from mammy Mel, to GG, to 4 great grandkids and love them like only she could. We could go on and on about how she was the best, the best sister, mom, grandma, great grandma and many other titles she had.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10-11 am Monday, April 22, 2024 with a luncheon served at 11:30 at the Christian Church in Cuba. Memorials can be made to her Church. To make online condolences please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com
