Chris was born on November 27, 1970 in Galesburg, Illinois. He had many people in his life who were important to him, but none greater than his daughter Hannah May Strandberg of Galesburg, IL. Chris was a proud grandfather to Hannah's son Jaxon. Those who remain to treasure their fond memories of Chris are his daughter and grandson, and brother Jason (Amanda) Strandberg, of Canton, IL. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Kennedy, Ethan, Hayden, Carter, and Avery. Chris is also survived by his grandmother Nadene Rosenberg, who was his sanctuary through many storms in his life. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Strandberg and one brother Timothy Jon Strandberg.
Chris had many talents in this life. He was a gifted auto mechanic who had a special love for VW bugs and buses. He was a self-taught guitarist and loved music, especially heavy metal played really loud. As his dad would say, "If it's too loud, you're too old!" Chris loved making candles and gifting them to friends. He was proud of his summertime garden and all the produce he was able to share from it. At Christmas time, Chris used his culinary gifts to make baked goods for family and friends and was especially loved for his chocolate pretzels.
Chris was the most excellent cat dad with a special heart for taking in stray cats. He found peace in caring for what he perceived as a lost animal with nowhere else to go. Before his death, Chris made a place in his home for five cats who were treated with love and affection. He found joy in helping others and no doubt the many friends and cousins he leaves behind will miss his helping spirit greatly.
Chris's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the counselors at North Central Behavioral Health in Canton, Illinois. Their loving care and open hearts for Chris were profoundly helpful in bolstering him through tough times.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
