He was born in Canton, on February 11, 1979, to Daniel and Becky (Hebb) Bruketta, they survive as well as his wife Virginia (Smizer) Bruketta. They were married on July 4, 2006.
Also surviving are his three children, Alicia Bruketta, Ella Bruketta, and Dean Bruketta, sister Aimee (Harold) Pasco, nieces and nephews, Cassie, Sierra, Justin, Aneliese, Megan, Zeke, and Michael, and several aunts and uncles and grandparents.
Jimmy worked for 15 years at Illinois River Correctional Center, he later owned and worked construction as Bruketta Construction, and lastly worked at the meat department at Hy Vee in Canton.
Jimmy was a proud to be part of the Central Illinois Combat Club “Silverbacks”, though he often competed at just 135 pounds, he never let size define him. He routinely stepped into the cage against opponents weighing as much as 170 pounds, sometimes fighting two or even three times in a single night. He never turned down a challenge, earning the respect of teammates, opponents, and fans alike. With victories over multiple UFC veterans and a fearless spirit that seemed willing to take on anyone—or anything—he became known not only for his toughness but also for his heart.
Those who knew him from the local MMA scene remember more than just the fights. He was there helping set up the ring or cage before the event, stepping inside to compete, and then staying afterward to help tear everything down. No matter how long the day had been, the smile rarely left his face. He loved the sport, and the crowds loved watching him compete because they knew he would always give everything he had.
While his accomplishments inside the cage were remarkable, those closest to him knew his greatest achievements came after his fighting career. He devoted himself to being a loving husband and a proud father, embracing those roles with the same passion, dedication, and selflessness that had defined him as a competitor.
He will be remembered not only as a fearless fighter, but as a loyal friend, devoted family man, and someone whose kindness, humility, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a true jack of all trades, with the ability to fix or build just about anything. Whether he was building his family's home or repairing a vehicle, there wasn't much Jimmy couldn't do with his hands. He was also a proud member and supporter of the Canton Wrestling Club, where he shared his love of the sport with others.
Above all else, Jimmy treasured the time he spent with his family. They were the center of his life, and his greatest joy came from creating memories with those he loved most.
