Barry Taylor

Barry Taylor, 73 of Fairview, IL died at 12:36 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born to C. Berwyn and Mary (Wagner) Taylor on November 25, 1952 in Canton, IL. He married Rhonda Atchley in Norris, IL on July 21, 1984. She survives him.

Also surviving Barry is one son Damon (Elizabeth) Taylor of Chicago, IL; one daughter Kimberly Lane of Canton, IL; three brothers Donald (late Pam Walter) of Fairview, IL; Steven (Cheryl) Taylor of Canton, IL; Jeffrey Taylor of Fairview, IL; one sister Carolyn (Tim) Negley of Fairview, IL; he was an uncle to several nieces and nephews; five grandchildren Morgan (Drew Hedges) Lane, Kennedy (Tucker Adams) Lane, Kyle Lane, Charlotte Taylor, and Tobias Taylor; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Tobias Oatman, and one great-grandchild.

Barry was the Mayor of Fairview for 12 years, worked at Cook Polymer Technologies in Canton for 10 years. He was a member of the Fiatt Independent Christian Church, and a member of the Sons of American Legion in Fairview. He was a lifelong Cubs fan, always cheering them on.

A memorial service will be held at Fiatt Independent Christian Church in Fiatt, IL on August 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Project Linus, Southwest Chicagoland Chapter at projectlinus.org. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory.
