He was born on June 30, 1933, in Canton, to Lawrence and Irma (Schnur) Bair. They preceded him in death.
Bud married Betty (Hoffman) Bair on April 6, 1963, in Cuba. She preceded him in death in 2016. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charles Bair and Raymond Bair; one sister, Helen Johnson; one son, Danny (Lesa) Hoffman Sr.; and one grandson, Kaden Koch.
He is survived by three children, Bruce (the late Paula) Bair, Michael (Chelle) Bair, and Michele (Doug) Olson; seven grandchildren, Taylor Long, Chelsea Olson, Emily (Randy) Koch, Ashlee (Clinton) Shaffer, Halle Bair, Danny Hoffman Jr., and Ann Marie Pasley; and nine great-grandchildren, Alice Long, Josie Long, Kolton Koch, Kason Koch, Wren Shaffer, Charlie Shaffer, Maliki Pasley, Isaah Pasley, and Noah Pasley.
Bud was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during the Korean War. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria in the SS Building for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He was a longtime member of UAW Local #974.
Bud enjoyed fishing and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also active in veterans’ memorial events throughout local schools and the community. Above all, Bud cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 2:00, 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
