Harry “Al” Gienow, 88, formerly of Trivoli, passed away on November 17, 2025 at the Renaissance Care Center in Canton. He was born on August 12, 1937 in Peoria to Harry E. and Betty (Holp) Gienow. Al married Margaret Best on July 14, 1959 in Peoria. She survives along with three children; Christopher Gienow, Linda VanDyke and Debrah Bramble, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Preceding Al in death were his parents, one son Andrew Gienow, one brother Tony Gienow, and two sisters; Margaret Stancil and Mary Kalebaugh.
Al retired as a wire drawer from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville. He was a founding member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bartonville, Knights of Columbus, German/American Society, Illinois Master Gardner and a former Volunteer Firefighter for Bartonville Fire Department. He was also a Navy Reserve veteran.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. Memorials can be made to the St. Anthony’s building fund. To leave online condolences, please visit oakshinesfuneralhome.com.
