She was born to Fred R. and Hazel E. (Brill) Jolly on October 7, 1927, in Oakland, California, and married Lynn W. (Red) McKinty June 22, 1952, in Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Robert.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan (the late James) Bacon of Bensenville, Illinois, Lynne (Frank) Titus of Gibson City, Illinois, and Marjie McKinty of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Dr. William Bacon of Bensenville, Sarah (Tom) McCall and Jess TItus, both of Gibson City; three great-granddaughters, Kate McCall, Erin McCall, and Nora McCall, also of Gibson City; and various nieces and nephews.
Janet graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State University. She was an elementary school teacher at Elmwood Grade School from 1947 to 1952. Later she worked at Bank of Yates City, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, PEO Chapter AO in Elmwood, Elmwood Mother’s Club, and the quilters at United Presbyterian Church. Both she and her husband actively supported Elmwood Historical Society. She maintained a lifelong interest in music, history, and architecture and was deeply grateful for the kindnesses shown her by many friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the funeral immediately afterward. Memorials may be made to Elmwood Fire Department or BYE Ambulance.
