He married Peggy Hedden on July 15, 1972, in Canton. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Buskirk; mother, Nancy (Hanson) Kidd; stepfather, Leslie Kidd; brother, Mark Buskirk; and grandchild, Emma Longenecker.
Also surviving are his children, Joseph (Missy) Buskirk of Canton and Kristin (Matthew) Longenecker of Canton; brothers, Marion Buskirk of Canton and John (Tami) Buskirk of Pennsylvania; sister, Robin (Wayne) Erickson of Canton; grandchildren, Jaden (Megan) Gosnell, Erin Gosnell, Elena Longenecker, Jacob (Kelsey) Longenecker, Jordyn Longenecker, Jacob Buskirk, Kage Porter, and Willa Porter; and great-grandchildren, Emmie and Hailee.
Marty proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 2000 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Canton Bowling Association and the Canton American Legion.
Marty loved to bowl, fish, and hunt, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A private burial of his ashes will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery.
