Jeffrey Robert Delost

Jeffrey Robert Delost, “Pops” 53, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was born on February 5, 1972 in Springfield, IL to Robert and LouAnn (Ferro) Delost. His father and his grandparents, Joe & Sylvia Delost, Tony Ferro & Marvis Ferro Smith, and his Aunt Kathryn Siebenthal and Aunt Peggy Ferro preceded him in death.

He married the love of his life, Tracy Lynn Horton of Canton on November 30, 1996 at St. Mary’s Church in Canton. She survives along with their two children, Anthony Joseph (Honesty Meacham) of Farmington, Izabella Rose of Norris, two beautiful granddaughters, Stella Jean and Genevieve Lynn Delost, mother, LouAnn, sister, Jennifer (Jimmy) Mies, father & mother in-law, John and Brenda Horton, sister in-law, Renee (Mark) Stockov, brother in-laws, John (Laurie) Horton, Bobby (Trisha) Horton, nieces & nephews, Rachel and Marshall Mies, Erica Halverson, Megan (Nick) Anderson, Jake Halverson, Ally (Drew) Brodbeck, Katie Waughtel, Jonathan, Cassidy, & Carter Horton, Lilliana, Nikolia, & Penelope Horton, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had many close friends including his closest cousins, Josh Siebenthal & David Delost, Alan (Tracy) Myers, Mark (Kristian) Barnard, TJ Barnard, Trent Pollitt, Bill Foose, John Kersh, & Todd (Carrie) Winter.

Jeff was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton. He was also a member of IBEW Local 34 union working as an electrician for 26 years, Farmington Moose Lodge, and the Fulton County Farm Bureau. Most importantly, he was doing what he loved—working as a self-employed farmer on the family farm, where his father, Farmer Bob, and his grandfathers, Joseph Delost and Tony Ferro, had also devoted their lives. Like them, he carried on their legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for the land.

Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with the people he loved most. He poured his heart into farming alongside AJ, Uncle Jim Ferro, and a cherished friend, DJ Johnson, who became family. Jeff was a proud father. He was incredibly proud of AJ, who shared his deep love for farming, sports, and family. Watching AJ grow into an amazing father brought Jeff immense joy and pride. He loved seeing the way AJ worked hard to build a strong, loving family of his own. Jeff loved watching Izabella shine—whether she was cheering, tumbling, playing volleyball, and especially watching her play softball. He was always her biggest fan. His warmth and laughter filled every gathering at the shed, affectionately known as the “Captain’s Quarters,” where everyone was welcome to share good food, great company, and lasting memories.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 5-7 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a recitation of the Rosary at 4:30.

A funeral Mass will follow on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Canton. Burial will follow Mass at  at Delost Farms in Norris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation in memory of Bob Delost.
