He was born June 20, 1936 at Canton the son of Frank and Mary (Vaughn) Atchley. He married Ruth Johns on February 6, 1976. She died July 18, 2005. He later married Pauline (Curless) Ferree October 20, 2007 at Bluff City. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Robert Atchley of Mt. Sterling, Mark (Teresa) Atchley of Bryant, and Tim (Lisa) Atchley of Canton, two daughters, Lori (Chuck) Grove of Chestnut, and Izzy Atchley of Lewistown, four step children, Julie (Stan) Miller of Havana, Laura (Greg) Unruh of Havana, Brian (Jonna) Dailey of Moline, and Jennifer (Brian) Jones of Peoria, one brother, John (Carol) Atchley of Indiana, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nineteen step grandchildren, and ten step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Jack, and James, stepson, Kelley Ferree, and step grandson, Kenny Wayne Bridges.
Dick worked at International Harvester in Canton and then transferred to Case IH at Moline. After he retired he was a consultant for Case IH in Toronto Canada, and the western United States. He was a member of the Prevailing Faith International Church of Bluff City. Dick enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, playing the piano, and attending Izzy’s sporting events.
A graveside service and burial will be at 12:30 PM Monday November 10th at Waterford Cemetery with Pastor Barb Sawyer officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 10 until 12 noon at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Izzy Atchley.
