Larry D. Woods

Larry Dale Woods, 57,of Pekin, passed away peacefully at his mother’s residence Thursday morning, February 16, 2023. He was born November 8, 1965 in Hopedale Hospital to Carolyn Beebe Woods and the late Wayne Woods.

A 1983 graduate of Forman High School, he worked as a custodian at the Forman Jr. High and for the State of Illinois Transportation Department Custodial Services servicing the Rest Areas along the Interstates, as well as Oney’s grocery store in Manito.
Larry was a member of the Pekin/Peoria area Special Olympics, he loved bowling and finished 1st place in many Special Olympic bowling events. Larry also participated in and pitched softball and other positions on a team that finished 2nd in the World Special Olympic Softball tournament. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Norman, of Pekin, a sister, Kathy (Jay) Bowman, of Lebanon, Indiana, and two brothers, David Woods, of Avon, Indiana, and Wayne (Erin) Woods Jr., of Manito. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his father, Wayne Woods, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rollin and Rosie Beebe and Virgil and Lula Woods.
The visitation will be held at the Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington St.in Manito on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
A funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. The burial will follow the service in Glendale Memorial Gardens, in Pekin.
