Clair B. Myers


Lewistown- 5197- Clair B. “Skeet” Myers, 87, of Lewistown passed away at 5:22 PM Saturday February 4, 2023 in Havana.


He was born September 14, 1935 in rural Avon the son of Charley and Leota (Hahn) Myers. He started seeing Betty Palmer in 1955 and they were married on August 18, 1956 in Bushnell. She survives. They are the proud parents of four children, Laurie Welsh of Lewistown, David (Kim) Myers of Benton, AR; Patty (Matthew) Randall of Las Vegas, NV; and Mike (Cassie) Myers of Lewistown, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mark Myers, one son-in-law, David Welsh, six brothers, and three sisters.


Skeet attended Sweeny County School and later graduated from Bushnell High School. Throughout high school he was active in all sports. After school he enjoyed farming with his father in his early years.


Skeet worked at International Harvester (Canton Plant) for 21 years while he farmed and was a rural mail carrier. He later worked for the Lewistown School District. Skeet, as he was affectionately called, served on the LCHS School Board, the Lewistown Park District Board, and South Fulton Tractor Club. He was also a member of IH Red Power and was an avid collector of International Harvester tractors and memorabilia. It was not uncommon to see Skeet & Betty in the Lewistown gym and ball parks watching their children and grandchildren play. He loved to drive his tractors in the community parades. Through married life he loved playing fast pitch softball in Bushnell. Skeet was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved finding gallons of mushrooms. He enjoyed gardening, making salsa and horseradish. Morning coffee with the boys and weekly fish fries in Bernadotte were greatly enjoyed. Skeet loved his family, friends, and community. He will be greatly missed. 5197.


A graveside service will be held at 1:15 PM Friday, February 10th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Reverend Ellen Dodd officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM Friday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewistown Elementary Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) program.
