Jane L. Boyd

Jane L. “Nanny” Boyd, 91, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday February 18, 2023 at her home.


She was born September 30,1931 at Lewistown, the daughter of Isaac and Opal (Wilcoxen) Harn. She married John H. Boyd on September 30,1950 at Lewistown. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Donnie Boyd, two brothers, and six sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Rick) Johnson of Lewistown, and Andrea (Jerry) Mann of Lewistown, two granddaughters, Alison (Tom) Svob of Lewistown, and Anissa (Travis) Nelson of Mediapolis, Iowa, five great grandchildren, Tyler and Alivia Svob, Arizona, Trapper, and John Nelson, one brother, Lewis Harn of Lewistown, and one sister-in-law, Thelma Harn of Cuba.


Jane was a member of the Lewistown VFW Auxiliary and the Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president of both organizations. She served as the first leader and president of the Junior Girls Unit. She was instrumental in the Patriot programs at the Lewistown Grade School, and the Jaws of Life Safety programs at the Lewistown High School, for this she was selected Lewistown Citizen Of the Month in 1998. In 2016 the former Lewistown American Legion building was named after her. In 2021 she was the Grand Marshall at the Lewistown Homecoming Parade. In 2022 the first night of “Music in the Park” was proclaimed Jane Boyd Day in the city of Lewistown. She was awarded one of the Distinguished Alumni Recipients at the 2022 Lewistown Alumni Banquet. She was an avid bowler and served as president of the Canton Bowling League. She was known as Nanny to any one that knew her.


Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday February 23,2023 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with her niece Darla Henderson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 22,2023 from 5-7 pm at the memorial home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, and memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary or the Lewistown VFW Auxiliary.
