Roxie J. Hardesty


Roxie J. Hardesty, 73, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 9, 1947 in Fulton County. She was the daughter of George Jacobs and Florence Ford.  They preceded her in death.

She married Gerald Hardesty Sr on March 8, 1964 in Canton.  He preceded her in death on April 15, 2002.

Surviving are her children, Shellie Hardesty of Canton, Gerald “Jay” (Ronda) Hardesty Jr of Banner, James Hardesty of  Canton, four grandchildren, Gerald Hardesty III of Elmwood, Jared Quick of Canton, Emma Hardesty of Canton and Jacob Hardesty of Canton.

Roxie was a muti-talented lady, well known throughout the community, holding several positions during her lifetime.  From her younger years she was a server and bar manager in Canton.  She went on to be an instructor at the International Beauty Academy of Canton while owning and operating multiple beauty salons.  Later in life she was a tax preparer for H & R Block and an animal rehabilitator for Fulton County.

Roxie was very active enjoying camping along with many outdoor activities throughout her life.  She enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, painting, crafting and spending time with friends and family.  In retirement she continued her hobbies while surrounded by her many pets which she loved dearly.  Most of all Roxie enjoyed being with her beloved family.   

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11:00 am, at Shields Chapel Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.

Oaks Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton has been entrusted with arrangements.

Covid 19 mandates will be followed with social distancing and facial masks required.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
