David D. Smith


David D. Smith, 79, of Lewistown, passed away at 2:30 AM Monday January 11, 2021.

He was born December 17, 1941 at Canton, the son of Dean and Maxine (Randall) Smith. He married Mary Martin on December 12, 1964 at East Galesburg. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Suvivors include three children, Richard (Fiancée Dawn Graves) Smith of Edelstein, Robin (Annette) Smith of Mason City, and Renee (John) Lane of Bartonville, twelve grandchildren, Tanner Smith, Makayla Braun, Colton Braun, Brittany Feltz, Brock Delaney, Ashley Parr, Megan Humberd, Tyler Smith, Karley Wallace, Krysten Wallace, John Lane, and Jennifer Lane, and one sister, Carol (Larry) DeMotte of Lewistown.

Dave was an Army veteran and a member of the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. He was also a member of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown. He had worked at International Harvester and also MSD. He was a meat cutter at the former Day & Palin IGA and other grocery stores in the area, and also owned and operated the former Lewistown Locker.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday January 15, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
