Oliver Franklin Buhs Sr., 86, of Peoria, passed away at 7:27 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on June 14, 1934 in Bartonville, IL to Otto and Dorothy (Jacobs) Buhs. He married Shirley J. Parker on February 11, 1950 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2016.
Oliver was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Bonnie Buhs, and two sisters, Georgia Bush and Linda Eckhold.
Surviving are six children, Oliver (Cheryl) Buhs Jr. of Peoria, IL, Gregory (Mary Jo) Buhs of Oconomowoc, WI, Cheryl (Paul) Lohnes of Peoria, IL, Peggy (Pete) Jain of Peoria, IL, Gary (Stephany) Buhs of Peoria, IL and Lisa (Todd) Stroud of Peoria, IL; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Samuel (Judy) Buhs of Brimfield, IL.
Oliver first owned and operated a gas station in Glasford, IL. He later worked at Trailmobile in Bartonville, IL and was a diesel mechanic at Rohn Manufacturing in Peoria, IL where he was also head of the garage. He enjoyed fishing and collecting hit and miss antique engines.
Private burial of ashes will be held at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Memorials can be made to OSF Heart Failure Clinic. To make online condolences you may go to www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
