Fairview – Warren A. Simons, 89, of Fairview, passed away at 5:52 pm, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on March 18, 1927 in London Mills, IL. to George A. and Sarah Hazel (Coker) Simons. Warren married Bessie J. (Cook) Young on June 28, 1963 in Canton. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1999. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving is three children; Dixie Way of Fairview, Michael Simons of Maquon, and Marla Kay Simons Ruberg of Fairview, three step children; Michael Young of Maquon, Patricia Hilton of Fairview, and Jeri Allen of Fairview, ten grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Warren was a farmer and also worked at Midland Coal Company as a coal miner retiring in 1985 with 21 years of service. He was a member of the Fairview Park Board, Fairview Township Board, Scout Master in Fairview, Fairview Zoning Board, past President/Secretary/Treasurer of Local #1523 UMWA, and in 1982 helped revise the Illinois Corn Husking Association.
Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.
