Canton – Charles W. Florey Jr., 73, of Canton, passed away at 8:41 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born on January 2, 2016 in Peoria, IL to Charles and Nellie (Justice) Florey Sr. He married Jean Eldridge on June 27, 1969 in St. David, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Tina (Michael) Kruzan of Canton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Joni) Florey of IA; one sister, Nancy Hedden of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles worked at Caterpillar in Mapleton Foundry for 38 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #644. Charles was a part of a bowling league and loved to go camping.
Charles served in the Navy for eight years.
Services will be at 10 AM on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 N Main St, Canton, IL. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded following the services.
