C. Joanne “Joni” (Todd) Vanderschoor


Canton - C. Joanne “Joni” (Todd) Vanderschoor, 85, of Old Hickory, TN, formally of Canton, passed away at 7:49 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at HealthPark Care & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Myers, FL. She was born on August 13, 1930 in Canton, IL to William R. “Chick” and Mildred (Mace) Todd.

Surviving is her life partner, Paul R. Miliken of Old Hickory, TN; one brother, Jerry Todd of Canton; one sister, Barbara (Dick) Leeds of MN; and nine nieces and nephews, Rick Leeds, Judy Leeds, Cindi Laswell, Sandi (Leeds) Bredemeier, Brad Leeds, Bob Todd, Mark Todd, Matt Todd, and Terry Todd.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and one niece, Becky Leeds.

Joni graduated from Canton High School in 1948. While in Canton, Joni worked at 1st National Bank which is now known at Mid America National Bank. In Nashville, she retired from working as a member of the Davidson County Mayor’s Office Staff after 23 years of service. During her tenure with the mayor’s office she worked for three consecutive Nashville mayors. Upon retirement she received a commendation from the City of Nashville and received a Gold Record from the Chamber of Commerce designating her the Voice of Nashville, as her voice was the first voice people would hear when contacting the Nashville mayors office.  She was a member of Sweet Adelines International, the worldwide organization of women singers who advance the musical art forms of barbershop harmony.

Services will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 N. Main St., Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Disabled Veterans Association.
