Dorothy L. Walsh


Morton – Dorothy L. Walsh, 89, of Morton formerly of Canton passed away at 1:27 pm Saturday, August 13, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  She was born on August 7, 1927 in Panama, IL. to Charles Otto and Gladys M. (May) Stout.  Dorothy married Edward M. Walsh on June 20, 1944 in St. Louis, MO.  He preceded her in death on March 24, 1998.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Tammy Joy, three brothers, two sisters, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  Surviving are six children; Sheila (Terry) Opper of Morton, Michael D. (Nancy) Walsh of Juneau, AK, Kathleen Walsh of Fort Pierce, FL, Dennis (Mary) Walsh of Emden, Constance (Ron) McElroy of Elmwood, and Tracy (Shane) Wienzierl of Dillon, IL, two brothers; Gerald (Marilyn) Stout of Panama City, FL, and Charles (Ann) Stout of Johnston City, IL, twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy worked in Canton as the assistant to the owner of Ben Franklin and also waitressed at A&W for many years.  She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton and enjoyed, spending time with her kids, dancing, and listening to blues and big band music.
Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton where visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Grandsons Brian Opper and Scott Dockins will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton.  Memorials can be made to the VFW in Canton or Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton.  To view Dorothy’s DVD or leave online condolences, please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com
