Barbara I. Williams


Cuba-  Barbara I. Williams, 87, of Cuba passed away at 7:05 PM Sunday August 14, 2016 at the Clayberg Nursing Center in Cuba.

She was born September 24, 1928 at Chattahoochee, FL; the daughter of Benjamin T. and Pearl (Singletary) Ingram. She married Robert E. Williams on April 24, 1953 at Oakland, CA. He died February 9, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are one son, David (Pat) Williams of Canton and three grandsons, Benjamin, Ryan, and Robert Williams all of Canton.

Barbara worked as a secretary for the University of Illinois in Champaign. She had also worked as a medical secretary for several doctors and had been the manager of an apartment complex. Barbara served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953 where she was a message decoder. She was a member of the Cuba Christian Church and the Cuba American Legion. Barbara and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. She was an avid reader, a cat lover and a bird watcher. Barbara was a best friend to everybody.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday at the Cuba Cemetery with Pastor Mike Arnett officiating. Burial will be at Cuba Cemetery with a military service conducted by the Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533. A visitation without the family present will be held from 10 until 11 AM Thursday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba.
