Ronald L. Clark


Ronald L. Clark, 62, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 12:30 AM at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Ron was born on December 30, 1953 in Peoria, IL, a son of Roy and Jackie Braddy Clark. He married Susan Ireland on January 11, 1974 in Maryville, Missouri. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bradley (Sarah) Clark of Paris, IL; Timothy Clark of Kansas City, MO., one daughter, Rebecca Clark of Lawrence, KS, one grandson, August Clark, and one brother, Thomas Clark of Kewanee, one sister, Connie Edwards of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter Elizabeth Clark, and one brother, James Clark.

Ron graduated from Manual High School in 1971, and attended his first year of college at Spoon River College in Canton, then received his bachelors and masters degree from Northwest Missouri State University, where he was inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Ron was the Athletic Director and Baseball Coach for many years at Spoon River College, where he started the Athletic Hall of Fame. He also was the first baseball coach at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL from 1981 to 1984, he was also head coach at Quincy University from 1985 to 1989, and assistant coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL from 1989 to 1995; Ron also coached at various universities during his career as a coach and he was a vary accomplished athlete in baseball during high school and his college years.

Ron was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Celebration of Life will be from 2-4 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton. Cremation rites will be accorded.
