David E. Cummins, Sr.

Lewistown- David E. Cummins Sr., 67, of Lewistown, passed away at 7:25 PM on Monday, November 7, 2022 at his residence. He was born on July 13, 1955 in Michigan City, Indiana; a son of James D. and Lillian (Proll) Cummins. He married Terry McClanahan on October 6, 1973 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives.


Also surviving David are his two children, Christina (Robert) Seward of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and David E. (Lynn Struesser) Cummins Jr. of Wallis, Texas; two grandchildren, Haley (Levi) Asher and Ezra Reneau; one great-grandchild and one on the way, MacKinley Jo and Little Nugget Asher; one brother; and four sisters.


Preceding him in death were both parents; one brother; and one sister.


David worked as a Steamfitter for the Local 353 Union for 45 years. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his family.

Harvey G. Evans

Harvey G. Evans peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2022. Harvey, 83, was born in Canton IL on August 29, 1939 to Harvey and Gertrude Evans. He leaves behind his sister Diantha (Kay) Evans. Harvey married Constance (Connie) Harmon on August 30th 1958 and just recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.


Harvey loved his family dearly and leaves behind daughter, Geana Evans-Durrette, son Gregory Evans, and daughter Gala Denney - Hardin (married to Jay Hardin). Surviving are 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Evans, Kiley Evans, Bobby Carmack, Erin Carmack, April Durrette, Danielle Gonzales-Boyer, Andrew Gonzales, and Christian Miles. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren: Khloe Bozeman, Nora Johnston, Dane Boyer, Tyler Boyer, Alizae Gonzales, Andrew Gonzales Jr, Leo Gonzales, Cataleya Miles, and Carmella Miles.

Harvey had a very active life. At one time he was on the school board in Glasford, Illinois, a scout master, and president of the Fulton County Riding Club. He was a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, taught at the YWCA, and later had his own studio and taught self defense to many members of the community. Harvey graduated Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and was a licensed and ordained minister. He was a pastor at the Faith Fellowship Church in Glencoe, Minnesota and Trinity Fellowship in Canton, Illinois. He evangelized for several years and loved the Lord with his whole heart.

Harvey was also a dreamer and entrepreneur at heart - never afraid to chase his dreams. He was admired by his friends and family for his drive and ingenuity. He had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, riding horses, John Wayne movies, Breyer's ice cream, family game nights, home improvement projects, and flipped many houses over the years.
Harvey never knew a stranger. His sense of humor, charming personality, and enigmatic smile will leave a lasting impression with everyone who has had the pleasure to know and love him.
Cremation rites have been accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

Sharon L. Shaw

Canton - Sharon Shaw, 83, of Canton, passed away, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

She was born on February 1, 1939, in Canton to Jack B.W. Shaw, and Pauline (Derry) Shaw. They both preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death is one brother John Shaw.

A graveside service will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Larry L. Wilcoxen

St. David - Larry L. Wilcoxen, 81, of St. David, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born in Canton, on August 29, 1941, to Robert Wilcoxen and Wilma Mae (Jackway) Thomas. He married Mary Wilcoxen in 1985. She preceded him in death after 28 years of marriage. Also preceding him in death is one brother Tom Wilcoxen and his step father whom he was raised, Vernon "Red" Thomas. Surviving are two daughters, Tina (Scott) Denney, and Kathleen (Steve) Beekman, four brothers, Elmer (Linda) Thomas, Sam Thomas, Vernon (Kelly) Thomas, and Joe (Tamara) Thomas, ten grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. Larry is a Veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in 1999. He was a member of the Canton VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting numerous different things. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Military honor's will be rendered on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at Franzoni Park in Norris. A celebration of life will follow at Tracey's Supper club in Norris from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society. Dane R. Parkinson

Lewistown- Dane R. Parkinson, 58, of Cuba and formerly of Lewistown passed away at 4:06 PM Friday November 4, 2022 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba where he was a resident.


He was born February 17, 1964 at Canton the son of Robert E. and Margaret A. (Madtson) Parkinson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are one brother, Ralph (Anna) Parkinson of Bryant, three sisters, Martha Vaughn of Canton, Marjorie (Doug) Grafford of Lewistown and Roberta Oest of Astoria, and several nieces & nephews.


Dane attended McCall School in Canton and worked at Fulton County Rehabilitation Center. Dane was born with Down’s syndrome. He was a gift to his family. He let his light shine brightly for the whole world to see and shared his love freely with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed. Dane enjoyed dancing and strumming the guitar at the Clayberg Nursing Home. He also enjoyed his hat collection, Dukes of Hazzard hot wheels, M&M’s and Pepsi. The family would like to thank the staff at Clayberg Nursing Home for their care and compassion over the years and also for being Dane’s “family”.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday November 9th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Brandon Theobald officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Clarence J. Breese

Clarence Junior Breese, 82, of Havana, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 in Cabot, Arkansas. Mr. Breese was born March 8, 1940 in Manito, Illinois to the late Clarence and Frances Bartles Breese. Mr. Breese worked for C&IM Railroad for over twenty years at the Havana Coal Docks. Clarence enjoyed trains, fishing, working in his garden with his dogs, and most of all doing whatever his wife Patty wanted to do. In addition to his parents, Mr. Breese was preceded in death by the love of his life, Patricia Dawson Breese and two grandchildren, Joshua and Talauna.

Mr. Breese is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Breese in Arizona, Launa Pratt, Melissa Yaeger and Kathy Welch, all of Cabot and Karen Specketer of Havana, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Breese, Rachel Breese, Curtis Yaeger, Christopher Yaeger, Zach Pratt, Timberlee Gasparro, Eric Welch, Andi Specketer and Clare Specketer. as well as 9 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito, Illinois under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, followed by a memorial for Clarence and Patricia at Grandpa's Restaurant in Havana. Arkansas arrangements under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.

Mary Irene Van Fossen

Mary Irene Vinson Van Fossen transitioned to her heavenly home to join her husband on November 1, 2022, at Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Irene was born on May 9, 1933, in Denton Hollow, Alabama, the second of five children, to Johnny C. and Grace Frost Vinson. She married Roy Van Fossen on August 19, 1960, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2021.


She was also preceded by her parents, her oldest child, Donna Van Fossen Cochran, her siblings Christine Myrick, Eugene Vinson and Hugh Vinson.

Irene is survived by her daughter Bonita (Chris) Dietrich of Peoria, Illinois, and sons Greg (Audra) Van Fossen of Fishers, Indiana, and Mike Van Fossen of Pekin, Illinois. She also considered their foreign exchange student, Saul Cardenas of Costa Rica, as one of her sons and he survives in Costa Rica.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Rhonda Skelton, Matthew Cochran, Jared Cochran, Tim Cochran, Karen (John) Eggers, David (Myranda) Dietrich, Crystal (Joe) Mahoney, Dustin (Angie) Dietrich, Stephanie (Juandale) Cook, Danine (Kevin) Alston, Eugene (Sheila) Van Fossen, Sherry Van Fossen, Michael (Felicia) Van Fossen, Jeremy (Ashley) Van Fossen and Ryan Van Fossen.

She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Virginia Bates, many nieces and nephews and her aunt, Pauline Brown and cousin, Kay Brown, and her son, Brett Brown.

Irene grew up in Russellville, Alabama, and graduated from Phil Campbell High School. After she and Roy married, they moved to Lowpoint to raise their family in a small-town environment. As her children were growing up, Irene was a full-time homemaker and was known as a great cook. She was very quick to help her friends and neighbors as any need arose. Irene was proud to serve her community as a nutritionist with the Illinois Home Extension Service in Woodford County. Golf became her passion as she learned the game at Snag Creek Golf Course in Washburn. Irene won many golf tournaments during her lifetime and had trophies for two holes-in-one. She continued to golf wherever they lived.

Roy and Irene spent time between Lake Vermillion, Minnesota, in the summer and Victoria, Texas, in the winter for many years. They enjoyed their cabin at Polley's Resort on Lake Vermillion, where many fish were caught. Memories were made as their children and grandchildren spent vacations with them in both locations. In addition to golfing and fishing, Irene and her husband became avid antique collectors. Irene had large collections of depression glass which she gifted to her daughters and granddaughters. Roy and Irene returned to Peoria from Victoria, TX, in 2014, to be closer to their family. Of all of her accomplishments, Irene was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Northwoods Community Church, 10700 North Allen Road, Peoria, Illinois at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at the church beginning 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery at 3 pm on November 26, 2022. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
